do you believe diddy is responsible for pac death??
Yeah, doesn’t Keefe say Puffy was a part of it and had a bounty on PAC’s head
So you're gonna beat ur meat to it now huh lol cool story bro
yupand i believe he just testified recently
(Of course I had this the day it hit shelves in 96’ but through out all my magazines in 2002 when I came back from Hajj at the height of my Muslim phase)This is the 2nd greatest piece of hiphop memoribilia—the first being the Dre cover when Dre left Death Row and then in this issue the Source sort of gives Suge his chance to respond to Dre.Part of what makes these two mags so historic is what transpired before, during, and after. As I mentioned above—before this mag was released Dre left Death Row and the June 96’ issue had Dre on the cover telling his story. As this magazine was going to press Suge was on top of the world. Considered a genius, the most feared, respected, and powerful executive the industry had ever seen. I remember reading it in 96’ and admiring Suge and soaking up all his wisdom in the interview and trying to pattern myself off of Suge’s success story. After—the issue went to press, Pac was murdered, Suge was incarcerated, Snoop’s sophmore album flopped—and the rest is history.
I don't think Doggfather was a flop, it did go double platinum. I guess if compared to Doggystyle, but he's never seen those numbers again.
man I remember the beginning of each month taking the train into Manhattan and going to the newstand to buy The Sourceunfortunately I too got rid of them somehow although I dont remember how this Snoop issue is one I've always wanted, it came out before I started collecting
who said it’s a flop?
Here we go again with the Doggfather debate. If you were old enough for the Doggystyle era like me and higheyecue then you know that Doggfather was a flop when it dropped—because our expectations were so high. But for fans that were a bit young in the Doggystyle era, or not yet born—then yeah—Doggfather is a high quality album that sold pretty well
Yeah, IDK if flop is the right word, but i was disappointed. It has aged well and a lot of the unknown rappers on it at the time became Westcoast names. People were expecting another Doggystyle and it wasn't that. Now that we know no album Snoop has ever released has been another Doggystyle, we can look at Tha Doggfather out of context and appreciate it as a decent album.
