50's Management Concerned About Oversaturation-

You don't need to ask "21 Questions" to find out what 50 Cent is up to these days. Since the release of Get Rich or Die Tryin in mid-February, the world has experienced an unstoppable 50 Cent onslaught in response to the insatiable demand of fans . But with continuous airplay, award shows, commercials, concerts, endorsement deals and a recent signing with powerbrokers at WMA, 50's management is expressing concern about oversaturation that could potentially dampen the rapper's extended forecast.

With well over 7 million copies sold of Get Rich... , a hype that hasn't been seen since the Eminem phenomenon is permeating every corner of the Hip-Hop landscape. 50 received the most nominations at this year's third annual Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Awards and another 3 nominations for the third annual BET Awards. Radio is playing a large role in 50 Cent mania - on New York's Hot 97 play list rankings of the week's most requested songs, 50 Cent was ranked #4 ("21 Questions"), #6 ("Majic Stick" w/ Lil' Kim), #8 ("If I Can't"), #10 ("Patiently Waiting") and #11("P.I.M.P"). Major manufacturers are cashing in as well with Reebok securing a multi-year deal with him to distribute his G-Unit Collection of footwear.

50 Cent's management team, Violator Management, is beginning to worry about over saturation at this early stage in his career. "There is always that fear that we are doing too much," said Chris Lighty, chief executive of Violator Management to Billboard. "But in reality, we haven't done anything but allow him to display his artistry."

His label, Shady/Aftermath/Interscope, believe this is just the beginning of a long career for 50 Cent. "In reality, we're only into our second single," said Interscope's head of marketing and sales, Steve Berman. "This album is deep enough to keep going strong through Christmas. That's our goal. We want to make sure that we do a great job on the [Rock the Mic] tour and then setting up this record for the fall going into Christmas."

Violator and Interscope may want to take a note from 50's nemesis, Ja Rule, who is a casualty of his own overexposure. From 1999 to 2001, Ja Rule was seemingly unstoppable and two years later is despised by former fans.

Nevertheless, the 50 machine shows no signs of slowing down as the Queens rapper yesterday inked a deal with the William Morris Agency to represent him across the board in his expanding roster of ventures. WMA had already been involved in his music career, the Roc The Mic Tour and will be integral in his current negotiations with several film companies and producers for upcoming acting roles.

I think it's too late to be worried about over saturation.
