NASCAR a sport????

ok...some friends of mine and i had this arguement a while ago...  i KNOW nascar is NOT a sport...its a hobby...i mean what kinda talent does it take to drive a car around in circles...not only that its really boring to watch..i cant stand it...any way i could just drive my car around circles in parking lots and doing the same dam thing...the only arguement anyone has is that the go like 180mph...well anyone could do that if you had a free road.....its just a HOBBY for stupid rednecks..

Sports are athletic and competitive. NASCAR is competitive but hell, life is competitive period.

And since the majority of NASCAR drivers are in their 40's and 50's, its pretty obvious their aint much athleticism to it.

So no it's not a a sport at all.

so Track and Field isnt a sport either?
There is a pit crew full of TEAM members that are involved in the race.  U have to use big time strategy in racing.  Car Racing is a sport to me.

I'd consider it a sport, but I don't consider drivers atheletes.

what happens at a pit stop?  They change the tires, put the gas inside the car, and they do it in less than 20 seconds, if thats not athletic than i dont know what is.  3 hours of thinkin of how to stay up front, and steering the hard ass wheel. Thats tough.

damn last week i changed a tire...and just before i came home i got gas and it took me like 30 seconds....and last week my girl and i drove like 3 hrs to a friends...damn i guess that makes me some athelete.....maybe tonight i'll i drive around in circles at a parking lot for like an hour...damn i'm good...NASCAE is a JOKE

u guys dont know how hard it is to race.  thats like if i ask "whats so hard about swinging the ball at the bat?" or "throwing a football around" or "whats so hard about kickin the ball back and forth" , its a certain skill involve the whole driving team.  How to get pass the next racer.  To bump another guys car and push him away to take the lead.  Its more than what u see on TV.

It's definetly a sport, by definiton, a sport does not have to involve athletics, but let me say this, my uncle has a hobby where he races stock cars...  just a hobby, he has a job  otherwise,  but however, when i watch  nascar with him, which i must admit is boring to watch, you can only respect what they do,  its  not simple, its fucking hard  as hell.... its one of the biggest mind games  to go against, its  not just racing,  its a lot more too, you have a team, not just a racer, a team that fight to be the best, with pit crews, strategizing and so on.... its not just a race, its definetly  more
