This was been the WC of runners and 1-2 good players. The Italy 90 one was been the opposite, with Mattaus, Maradona, Baggio, Baresi, etc..... dont joke!

I dont think either USA 94, France 98 or Japan/Korea 2002 were as strong competition wise as Italia 90 was, the Italy vs Germany final represents that, plus Argentina vs Italy and Germany vs England semis. But this world cup was better too watch, as teams like USA, South Korea, and Senegal added the feeling that anything could happen plus teams like France, Argentina, Italy and Portugal all going out prematurely made it great too watch.

Also i think this years final was one of the most highly contested and good too watch for a while.

I actually watched the whole game. It was good.

But some are harder than others




And I guess you want something different out of your World Cups than me because, while I admit the Semi Final line ups had some of the biggest 'name' teams, Italia 90 was a low scoring, cynical, and on the whole boring tournament.  The lasting images are missed penalties and red cards.

They were not just the biggest 'name' teams, they were the best teams, compare any of those teams in Italia 90's semis to the teams in this years semis, admit it or not the football was quality, and goals dont and never do constitute a good game.

This years tournament was let down by poor referees and a distinct lack of flair, also the whole tournament really didnt live up to the media hype for me.
