Americans: Would You Like Soccer To Become A...

Major Sport in The U.S.A?

I know I would, I love it... i'm asking this because I heard a joke about U.S. soccer today, but its actually quite true...

"Sports Critics say that  Soccer is becoming a major sport in the United States, that will all end after the  U.S. team loses to Germany on Friday"

that's probably true... we have a major league soccer league in American...which is MLS (major league soccer) but it really hasn't recieved all the love it could... WNBA basketball gets broadcasted more than soccer does... and a lot of great players from other countries play in our league too... especially the Mexicans... it could be a great a sport for us to have in the summer...instead of baseball... which i think is very boring...

never ever  ever ever ever ever (damn it u cant do it on a computer but like how chris tucker would say it on friday) say that again.  Honestly i dont care for soccer could care less if it became a major sport cuz a week after tha world cup american could care less.  Remember when tha US woman,  a week later no1 cared an tha only reason america cared 4 that long was b/c that one broad took off her shirt an was runnin around in a broad.  I'll never forget when sports center was showin highlights of tha MSL finals,  tha stands were empty.  3 rows back,  no1 at all.  It made a montreal expos game look like a pack house

It'll never happen, cause you can't have commercials. Sad, but true.

Oh.

Well, I don't even watch the sports we have now, so my opinion on this means nothing.  The average resident around my house would say "Soccer's for fags" if you asked them, so it probably wouldn't be that popular around here.  Everybody's big on NASCAR racing, though.

None the less, there is still 90 minutes of time where they can't run commercials. American Football, and Basketball have halftimes too, AND about an hour of other commercial spots. If a basketball game didn't have time outs, it would be done in about an hour. Insteat it takes 2 to 3 hours to finish. So the networks other than ESPN don't want to fuck with it, cause no one will want to buy just the halftime spots. I'm not saying it couldn't work, but the big networks want money, not quality sports, so soccer gets put on the back burner.

Well the question was, would you like it to be a Major Sport or not... not whether it would make it as a Major Sport... its an awesome sport... you're always on your seat, lots of intensity, great plays...  awesome, but it sucks because us Americans only see it a month every 4 years...

Damn these motherfuckers act like fags themselves... I mean, football (YES, FOOTBALL, CAUSE THATS WHAT IT'S CALLED) is the most popular game in the whole world, and Americans act like they dont know... That always amazes me... Same with your ounces, feet, yards, miles and all that shit.. The whole world uses meters and kilograms and yall still dont wanna know.. Man I'll never understand that

i dont wanna see it as a major sport to answer your question.  You find it exciting,  i find it boring.  It seems like they jus kick tha ball around in tha middle of tha field or hold.  90 minutes an all we have at tha most is 2 goals combined,  jus aint my thing.  its alright 2 play

It's obvous that you do not have a clue from that statement.

How many matches have YOU (Tom) watched in FULL during this World Cup.  My guess is NONE.

1)  It's like me saying all of Mobb Deeps albums are SHIT when I haven't heard any of them

2)  Seeing as Soccer is the 2nd most populars sport played by American kids after Basketball, I think you're majority thing will be bullshit.  I'm happy that in 20 - 30 years Football (Soccer) will be America's 2nd most popular Sport after Basketball.

BTW it seems you gave up on the Lewis all time great thread
