In North Carolina, about 100,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate. Local authorities are asking residents who remain behind to provide contacts for next of kin. Another 100,000 residents in neighboring Virginia are under mandatory evacuation.

In Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mayor Meyera Oberndorf said the city is working with state officials to get the word out to residents in low-lying areas to evacuate.

"Of course, some of the older hands always let you know that they've been through hurricanes before, so they're just not going to hop, skip and jump. But we always remind them that if they come in harm's way after we've told them to evacuate, there won't be anyone to come in and rescue them," the mayor told CNN.

Man, how many times do I have to tell you, I'm not leaving.  You can't run from GOD.  LOL.  There's no way a man should run from something natural like a hurricane, it's meant to be, it's a natural occurance.  Hurricanes are nothing, I've been through them before, it's kind of awe-inspiring, it's just a lot of wind, and rain, you feel like you're in the presence of the lord.  I'm in Charlotte, too, which is 200 miles from the coast.  The skies aren't even cloudy here, I'm looking out my window, beautiful clear sky tonight, you can see every star.

Thats how you know your screwed  ;)

Scorpion...ya man is long gone ;D

President Bush headed for the hills, Congress got out of town and most of the everyday people left in the nation's capital were told to stay home as Hurricane Isabel drew a bead on the region.

He is running again. Like in Vietnam/911  ;D

^^ Yeah, you might want to watch what you say, or we maybe we'll come 'liberate' your town so he'll have a good place to stay in Hurricane season.
