They're even going forward, or maybe Keane is better

I can even name at least 5 midfielders TODAY, that's OBVIOUSLY better than him. And not to mention attackers & defenders.

The players you mentioned are all offensive midfielders/attackers... you cannot name any midfelder who is better than Vieira offensively AND defensively... he's simply the best midfielder in the world today.

I don't normally agree with KVB but Viera is far more important and influential than Costa, Zahovic, Rivaldo and Figo.

Maybe Zidane is better, but Viera is in adifferent league to the others.

And Keane is the best midfielder in the world

yo, ive seen Vieira playin week in week out (almost) now for five years, and the guy is amazing, he is so consistent and just stands out head and shoulders above every1 on the pitch.
as for keane (dirty evil irish prick ;D) vieira has outclassed him everytime they have played (obviously not the 6-1, but that is put down to steponovs,luzhny and grimandi)
but the most skillful player i have seen live is zidane, amazing, different class, but different player to vieira.
but my dad tells me the best palyer he has ever seen is johan cruyff
best player this season is PIRES, hands down.
