If you think the competition between hip-hop label CEOs' opposing teams at the Entertainer's Basketball Classic at Harlem's Rucker Park is hot and heavy every summer, what do you think is going to happen when more than bragging rights is at stake and they're going after an NBA championship?

We could very well find out in the near future. A couple of weeks ago Jay-Z made it known he was interested in acquiring a stake in the New Jersey Nets and relocating them to his hometown of Brooklyn, New York. Now, according to a source within Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' camp, rap's marathon man seriously wants to obtain his own NBA franchise.

Not much more is known of P.D.'s plans as of yet, but the club-hopping renaissance man already has his NBA politicking game on point. Last week the Dallas Mavericks said they have chosen the fashion and music visionary to design their 2004-2005 season alternate uniforms. The source close to Diddy says that alliance was spurred on by a consultant who is helping Combs in his efforts to purchase a professional b-ball squad.

During an appearance on Howard Stern's syndicated radio program over the summer, Diddy said he wouldn't mind buying the New York Knicks, as he thought he could turn around their poor performance woes of the past few years. P.D. also admitted to the shock jock that he was not making any headway because the Knickerbockers' brass were not returning his phone calls.

No disrespect to Knicks or Nets fans, but they aint winning a title, with or without P.Diddy/Jay-Z. West teams will win NBA for the next 4-5 years. East is so wack, right now.
