Temptation

Have you ever had the urge to steal something from the store because you were short on cash? To take extra money from your parents wallets without them knowing? To short change the clerk at the grocery store? Have you ever been approached and offered alcohol or drugs and instead of immediately saying, “No” you think about experimenting knowing you could face serious consequences such as legal trouble and addiction? Maybe you have pondered taking a test drive in one of your parent’s cars even though you know you would never hear the end of it if mom or dad found out? Those are just a few examples of temptation. You may ask what is temptation? The Bible says temptation is when you are lured away from God by your own desires.

Everybody has been tempted. Some of you are probably being tempted at this very moment. It does not matter whether you are a Christian or not and it doesn’t matter what your age is. (Hebrews 4:15) Some of the godliest people to grace planet earth have been tempted.  Even Jesus Christ himself had to deal with temptation. In Luke chapter 4, Satan tempted Jesus with the treasures of the earth and power over it. All Jesus had to do was give in to the devil‘s temptation. With such a terrific deal offered to Him, I am sure Jesus deep down inside had thoughts about having that control, he was human after all. Fortunately for our salvation, Jesus made the right decision by resisting Satan’s proposition and instead he gave his life for us so we can now spend eternity in heaven if we believe and follow Him.

As long as we are in the human flesh we will be tempted. Temptation has been around since the days of Adam and Eve. If you are tempted that does not mean you have sinned. Only if you give into the temptation will it become sin. There was never any sin until Adam and Eve took a bite of the fruit that was from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, not when the serpent tempted Eve.

Temptation is what surrounds us. The people we know, our environment and even Satan himself can persuade us into doing something that is wrong in the eyes of the Lord. (James 4:7). It says when we are tempted we are told to resist the devil and submit ourselves to God. How do we do this? The scriptures explain this to us in Galatians 5:16. What that verse was saying is that every one of us should have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, pray and read God’s word, even more so when we are tempted and on the verge of corruption.

it was about 400 I think. The most I have ever spoken in front of. It was just 3-4 minutes but it felt like forever.

WOW.  The MOST I've ever spoken in front of was about 250.  Our chutch is medium sized, I'd say, but nothing like a superchurch or anything, lol.  Anyways, We had this meeting one night where if the seminary kids all came, they got 2 days of seminary off, so there was like 250 that showed up, and I had to give the opening prayer, so that was pretty crazy.  Usually, on sundays, they'll be like 100-150 show up.. I teach sunday school, but my class is one of several, so there's only 30 or so in my class.  Usually in front of 150 I'm pretty nervous, I can't imagine 400, LOL.

It would of been alot easier at church but it was my high school. I volunteered in something where we give daily encouragements to the students at assamblies. We were allowed to use our religious beliefs as well, so I got my bible and looked up some verses that would hopefully encourage everyone. A very scary moment especially since theres alot of those gothic vampire lookin people that cringe at the word Lord, God, Jesus etc.
