Possibly because Tech is from Afghanistan. It's no different to alot of the members during the World Cup. Just representing your country. I don't see how it really matters - unless you have some sort of hate towards every afghan in the world.

I spent more than 2 months in in long beach and thats where my dad was born...

You dont see me running around claiming the LBC.

In my view it's all about heritage, culture, and tradition. Many countries are rich in all three. So are many American cities.
