Masta Ace - Acknowledge (who are these cats he's dissin?)
« on: January 25, 2004, 02:50:37 PM »
I'm listening to Masta Ace's Disposable Arts right now and I got to this diss track.

High and Mighty? Who are they?

Boogieman? Huh?

How did these beefs get started?

High & Mighty are White I think, they had a song with Eminem before he was big.

The Boogieman story is a bit strange. This cat beat Masta Ace in a live battle (astonishing feat I may add) and Masta Ace was embarrassed as fuck. He said in interviews he was having an off-night, so he responded on Acknowledge. One of the best diss tracks I've ever heard. Perhaps even the best.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

the high & mighty beef was a bit of a misunderstanding. he though they dissed him, but by the time he called them & sorted it out, he already released the song like the dickhead he is. wouldnt it be logical to call them first?

be logical to call them and say "is it cool if i diss you on my new album?" lol na man... it was a big misunderstanding tho, High and Mighty were freestylin at one of their shows and said "Masta Ace IS The Shit" or something along them lines and word got back to M.A saying "Masta Ace is shit"

thats what i heard anyway, how close to the truth it is i dont know.
