They weren't riots they were wars.  They were civil wars.  And black people lost the war.

They were kind of stupid, since they were 'warring' against their own neighborhoods.  If they would have attacked the police department and city hall, that would have been a war, but since they just looted the liquor stores and t.v. shops, I'd call it a riot.  Peace~

warring against their own neighborhood, but not their own people. The word "Riot" makes it seem as tho it was jus "senseless havoc". And by SUM people it was. But when i think of a "Riot" i think more of when hocky fans in Canada, or soccer fans in Europe destroy a bunch of shit because their team won. Now THATS stupid and senseless. These "uprisings" were more, frustrations and anger being let loose all at once because of continued injustices. True, some people jus siezed the opportunity to cause trouble...but until youre in their shoes, u cant judge by saying it was "stupid". You will NEVER in youre lifetime be able to completely understand another peoples struggles. Thats nothing against u, cus none of us can COMPLETELY understand what its like to be someone else. We can only TRY. Plus, can u IMAGINE what kind of police brutality and murders by cops there would be, if tha police stations or city hall was to be attacked. The tension between the police and minorities in neighborhoodz in Watts and South Central would be crazy. Why do u think there wasnt all THAT much police presence during the South Central riots? Because look what neighborhoods were being destroyed. If it would have spread to Brentwood or sumwhere like that...please believe the Police woulda been out there shooting anybody in sight. The funny thing is, if a police station or headquarters was attacked...and police were beatin or killed...it would have to happen 1000's of more times before u could even start to catch up to the numbers of senseless beatings and murders perpetrated by tha police on minorites, just in California.
