Ready 2 Die
« on: April 20, 2001, 12:05:16 AM »
Biggies debut album

1. Intro as introes go this is awesome 4.5 but for sampling Snoop 5
2. Things Done Changed - "My mums got cancer in her breast/don't ask me why I'm motherfuckin stressed/ - hard shit - chorus samples Dre Good song - 3
3. Gimme the Loot - Amazing storytelling from Biggie - 3.5
4. Machine Gun Funk - 'I lived off the funk' not as funky as G funk tho, but still good - 3.5
5. The Warning - More good storytelling, funny skit at end - 3
6. Ready 2 Die - Not as scary as it could have been, Puffys on it so that brings it down obviously, but Biggies lyrics again shine - 3
7. One More Chance - Great song starts with answer machine messages, really good lyrics and strong chorus - 4
8. Fuck Me - Pretty funny
9. The What - feat. Method Man- good but could've been better - 3
10. Juicy - Lovely lyrics loveley song even Puffy can't bring it down CLASS - 4.5
11. Everyday Struggle - Good chorus good lyrics but nothing special - 3.5
12. Me and my Bitch - West Coast A bitch is a bitch - apparentley on the East your wife is a bitch I think this is good storytelling but Big is trying too hard to get a hard image on this track - 2.5
13. Big Poppa - Great chorus, lyrics aren't on his usual standard but still great - 4
14. Respect - Jamaican chorus from Diana King, again the lyrics dip but good tune and chorus - 3
15. Friend of Mine - Dissin hoez nice chorus but nothing memorable - 3
16. Unbelievable - Again not too memorable but far from a bad song - 3
17. Suicidal Thoughts - Great lyrics makes u think no chorus sort of an outro song but good nonetheless - 3.5

Legendary album - CLASSIC
Feels like a real work of art because of the heartbeats at start  and end
Awesome Lyrics from an awesome lyricist
8.5 out of 10

I know this was your opinion but were you drunk when you reviewed this album. Seriously Unbelievable was one of the best tracks to come out in 94. That track is classic. It deserves a 5. Premo on the beats, BIG on the mic. It doesn't get any better then that. If you don't think that is classic then.... shit, fuck it.

It deserves a 10 in my opinion.  A 9.5 at the least. I think it's at the level of doggystyle and aquemni. But the chronic is in a whole different level.

But for real I just couldn't bump this shit as I could Doggystyle and Aquemini
I still stick to what I said about Unbelievvable tho - u don't come off this album thinking "What a song Unbelievable was"

I find it hard to believe that many of the songs got 3s and 4s. There are some classic tracks on there (some that deserve 5s).

No no no understand this
I think there is about 100 tracks in Hip Hop that should get 5s
I look down this board and see people giving 5 5+ and 6 for songs
A 5 should be a song that signifies a load of stuff
Nuthin' But a G Thang
There is no song on Ready 2 Die that has the quality or importance of that track.
Seriously you all need to look at ur ratings system again
The fact that the lowest mark for any song was 2.5 show how good this album is.
C'mon people
