From 94 through 97 No Limit was dope.  Their music may have came up short, but it was that no-nonsense hip-hop that we are missing in the game today.  Everyone at that time was trying to run away from gangsta rap, you had Puffy and Mase dancing around in those shiny shoes throwing money all over the place, or Kurupt and Daz trying to be business men, which never worked out.  No Limit never claimed to have the greatest producers or the illest mc's, but they gave the people what they wanted, and they weren't arrogant or self-righteous towards their fans.  The South at that time was kind of the underdog, and then Master P came and just owned the industry for about 2 years.

No Limit was dope, hard to believe, and I'm picky as fuck when it comes to rap/hip-hop music,
to me they even had a classic song, off the Ghetto D album by Master P
Get "Stop Hatin", one of my favorite no limit songs, it was a classic to me, dope beat, it was real, and for once silkk the shocker sounded like he did a little more than try to talk

no limit was dope from ice cream man til about the "last don" or "made man" era....once albums liked "my world my way" started droppin it was all over....their first big mistake was the lil soldiers album....then continuing with lil romeo....mia x was lame too...to me fiend was really only cool on other peoples tracks...mystikal never had a full album i enjoyed but he had a lot of good songs from the few he made....

Exactly.  There is no contradiction.  From 94-97 No Limit was dope.  And actually from 97-98 was the undisputed riegn of No Limit. (if you wanna be technical)  In 94-95 they were dope, but still simmering on the gangsta rap underground.  But then in 96 they put together their first breakthrough platinum record, the TRU album, and by the time 1998 came around they were selling more records than any label, and dominating the charts.  They profited 56k in one year during that riegn.  They owned hip-hop.  But it was really more about being in the right place at the right time, then having great music, and by 1999 their time was up.
