WHY WASN"T WARREN ON 2001???
« on: August 20, 2002, 09:16:13 PM »
yo, why wasn't warren g on the chronic 2001?  I saw him in the "making of 2001" photos in the booklett, but why wasn't he on the fuking album?  I mean, what the fuck is wrong wit Dre?  Warren is his fuking half brother or what ever and has alot of tallent at that.  and all he gets is one stupid pic in the book??  I don't get it.  or is he in there and I just don't see it.  That would suck to sit out on such a project.

"oh Warren, my brother, you can come in the studio and watch us record this super classic, but sorry homez, you can't be in it.  tuff."

I can just hear Dre's words.

man fuk that.  that's fuked.

BTW is that Daz I see in one of the pics too?  was he cool wit Dre back then?  but just couldn't be on the album cause he was with the row or something?

Yo, sometimes the road to the truth is, so elusive it's confusin
And reality becomes illusion
If I showed the masses where we was at or where we was goin
I'd shatter the social balance of the world as we know it
I'm talkin bout the grand deception, of 1947
When our souls were sold to the heavens
for technologically advanced weapons
Crystal enhanced, brain implants, and mind control methods
MJ-12 is not majestic

man im sure it had nothing to do with that at all as far as Dre tellin' warren he can't be on the album. It could be due to many reasons beyond even our understandment of the industry or what was going on with their record labels. It's not that easy most of the times. Like I don't know too much about it, but for example, a record label has to give an artist permission to record on someone elses album. Now for sure Deathrow would not allow any of it's artists to be on a Dre album, so that cancels out Daz. Now I donno what was up with Warren, but I'm sure it wasn't because Dre didn't allow him to be on it. And we know they cool, not only cuz they half brothers, but Dre did produce his hit song on his latest album... ONE!

Who knows the reasons? One thing is for sure: sometimes it's not because Dre didnt want him. Look at "Looking At You" from the last Warren G album. Dre was in it with a rap verse, but Aftermath didnt give him authorization to be in the song. Shit is fucked up. But it's like that. Warren must be the most unlucky cat in LBC, haha..

word.... Interscope not Aftermath wasnt it?

but Dre did spend a whole month crafting the track for warren!

they've always had these problems, remember back in the past... theres always been rumours dre helped with warren's first album, plus theres that odd Dre cameo in the video for Do You See.

I dont remember it, homie. Dont have time to check it. But Warren made names. It's Aftermath or Interscope, dunno.. He said who didnt want Dre to be in his album.

Btw yea, it happened the same in Do You See. I'm sure Dre helped Warren G underground, at least in his first album. They brothers, dont need credits, money and shit like that.. Warren always showed love to Dre, and Dre put him in the Up In Smoke tour, when Warren had problems..

Although his brother Dr. Dre produced the first single from his December 4 release, Return of the Regulator, Warren said he expected a larger contribution from the hip-hop legend. The two were supposed to rhyme on the same song for the first time.

"A lot of people ask me why Dre never raps on my album," Warren said, "but I can't explain it. He was on 'Lookin' at Me' at first but then he told me he couldn't do it. I didn't understand it. I ain't trippin', though. I still got big love for him, but this record company sh-- is crazy."

What’s the longest you’ve ever taken on one song?

Damn near a month with dre on the first single, "Lookin At You." We’d be in the studio for two days rewriting verses. We’d do it and he’d come back the next day and be like ‘naw, I don’t like that. Let’s do it over.’ dre is the hardest working man in the business. That’s real. He will stay in the studio for three days with no sleep. He don’t even nod!

Why didn’t he rhyme on the song with you?

What he told me was that Interscope wouldn’t let it happen because he has so much music coming out at the same time with The Wash soundtrack and the Training Day stuff. But I was like ‘Dog, this is me!’ But they was like it can’t happen. But I’m cool. We’ll do it next time.

Jimmy Iovine, Co-Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M, and Doug Morris, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Universal Music Group (UMG) has not authorized dre to appear on the song.
Why ?
Only god knows...

Yeah, these type of situations suck ass. I'm not sure of the reasons why Warren didn't appear on "2001", but it's prolly along the same lines as why Dre couldn't appear on Warren's album. I bet the single would of done 10 times better sales wise if Dre rhymed on the actual song, although I think "Lookin' At You" is a banger regardless, don't know why some people on here hated on it. Am I the only one that thinks Warren's version is better than Sticky's version ???

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.
