i had the pleasure to see both Busta Rhymes and DMX at the same venue and that´s the best show i´ve been to all my life coz i think that X and Busta are by far the best live performers in hip hop.
i´ve been to a Public Enemy concert back when i was like 9 years old and that was pretty dope don´t remember too much tho. other dope perfomances i´ve seen been with Xzibit,Gangstarr,TRU & Kool G Rap. but i´ve been to so many rap concerts iin my short life that it would take me a couple of hours to write down all of them.

Let's see...

1996 De La Soul with Common and Mos Def at the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana. Back then Mos Def was just a hype man for De La Soul and Common only performed "Bitch in Yoo" and a couple of other tracks.

1997 One of my boys who is an underground rapper told me he was going to perform at the Galaxy at Santa Ana. His set got cancelled but I got to see Ozomatli perform. I had never heard of them prior to that evening but I was very impressed with their show.

1997 Ozomatli came to Cal Poly Pomona to perform. I was attending school there at the time. I got to meet Chali2na.

1998 A power 106 concert at Florentine Gardens in Hollywood. The Alkaholiks, Mos Def, Black Eyed Peas and Gangstarr performed. I was the most interested in seeing the Alkaholiks and they didn't disappoint, they were tight. They sprayed the crowd with 40's and they had this large inflatable Heineken bottle on stage. Dope! The BEP had just barely came out and WC introduced Gangstarr. Xzibit was there as the Alkaholiks' hype man, he didn't perform. I got to meet WC, DJ Crazy Toones and BEP after the show.

2000 Wu Tang Clan, House of Blues, Los Angeles. Honestly this show was quite expensive and in my opinion weak. There were 30 muthafuckas on stage and they came on late. The highlights were Method Man's stage diving and the GZA performing Liquid Swords.

2001 100.3 the beat summerjam, Irvine Meadows. The only reason I went was to see OutKast's set and we had to sit in the heat for 7 hours to see them but it was worth it. The Isley Brothers had a good show as did Musiq and of course the Liks, who never disappoint. Red and Meth came out briefly during EPMD's set which got the crowd hyped. The other performances are not worth mentioning.

2002 DJ Quik performed at the House of Blues in Anaheim. Hi-C and Suga Free where also in attendance. Shade Sheist opened for DJ Quik. The best part of Shade Sheist's set was the DJ, who had a little solo at the end of the set. It was tight. DJ Quik came on and he was on time! I knew is it was going to be on and crackin'. He was on stage first, then the curtain opened and Suga Free and Hi-C joined him. DJ Quik did all his classics. He shared some Champagne and Henny with the crowd. The most emotional part of the show was when he performed 50 Ways. Those of you guys who have the Visualism DVD know what I'm talking about. That was truly intense. DJ Quik also brought out Warren G briefly and he gave away some Outkast gear. DJ Quik's show is the best hip hop show I have ever attended. He has complete presence and knows how to truly move the crowd.

2002 100.3 the beat cooldown at the Universal Ampitheatre. We arrived late so we missed Talib Kweli's set. The Jurassic 5 performed and they were off the chain! Raphael Saddiq performed and he started off his set with a funk guitar solo. Raphael Saddiq is one talented dude. Gangstarr performed and this is the highlight of the show right here. DJ Premier dropped the beat for "In the Name of the Streets" and WC comes out of nowhere and cripwalks on stage and performs! The whole crowd when absolutely bonkers and I was like "oh shit!" The Roots closed down the set as they played their own stuff. Then Common Sense joined them and they played the background music while Common rapped. Common did an impromptu breakdance session.

2004 George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic at the Vault 350 in Long Beach. The band came out first without George and jammed for a while. George finally came out wearing some sort of wizard outfit and some groupee in the front tried to tug on his robe. It was funny. They performed for around 4 hours and their concert showcased at least two dozen musicians and vocalists. They had two drummers, two bass players, 4 electric guitar players, 3 horn players, a violinist and 3 vocalists. I'm sure I forgot a few. Everyone got a turn at a solo. Parliament is known for their lengthy tracks but each song took a minimum of 20 minutes to complete. The most memorable part of the show was this insane guitar solo that went on for at least 5 minutes towards the end. The show lasted so long that the audience just got worn out after a while. It was a great show and I'm glad that I can say that I got to see them live.
Being a LAKER is a privilige. Unfortunately some "Lakers" have forgotten that.
