I think your really limiting yourself if you lock yourself in the same rigid 3-part formula everytime, production/lyrics/flow.  It's not always about that.  There's more than just those three isolated categories.

How about determing a great record from another perspective?  A great record can be an album that you have to listen to everytime you see the weather change from spring to summer.  Or the first night the weather is hot after dark, you know that album will be in your car stereo.  How about that criteria?

To me an album has 4 categories...Production, Lyrics, Flow, and Overall.

What you are saying about weather is part of the Overall rating categoring.

Regulate for me is like this

Production 10/10
Lyrics 6/10
Flow 7.5/10

Overall i give it a 9/10 even though adding up the math and dividing it doesnt give it the rating.

Top 5 of all time? Damn... That's hard.

wtf @ people saying wtf @ Dead Prez... That's one of my all time favorites also
wtf @ that G-Unit fan mentioning a yet unreleased album with only one track leaked so far

OK... Here we go...

1) Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (1993)
2) Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle (1993)
3) Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to die (1994)
4) Dead Prez - Let's get free (2000)
5) Onyx - Bacdafucup (1993)

Can you tell 1993 was my favorite year? Actually, there's plenty more that belong wayyyyy up there imo. Think of...
Dr. Dre - The chronic (1992)
Nas - Illmatic (1994)
Eazy-E - Eazy-duz-it (1988)
Cypress Hill - Cypress Hill (1991)
Cypress Hill - Black Sunday (1993)
The D.O.C. - No one can do it better (1989)
De La Soul - 3 Feet high and rising (1989)
N.W.A - Greatest hits
... I could go on all day

I think "Regulate" is a lil bit overrated, too. Still a great album, but like Machiavelli said, mathematically it wouldn´t be all that. I say 6/10 is being nice to the lyrics, production for me is somewhere between 8.5 and 9.5...but i don´t know why people keep saying it´s the best w/c hiphop album ever, it´s some hella smooth shit, but i never really got quite ALL the hype about it...just my personal opinion
