Mobb Deep no longer signed to Jive
« on: April 05, 2005, 02:57:31 AM »
I just read this on www.juize.fm - I'll give you a translation for the article:

Quote
Recordcompany Jive removed Mobb Deep from their artist roster because of their disappointing sales. Despite their hit 'Got it twisted', Prodigy and Havoc couldn't manage to sell more than 500.000 copies of their album 'Amerikaz Nightmare'. With artists like Justin Timberlake, R. Kelly, Usher and Outkast on their label, nowadays Jive is used to loads better record sales, and therefor they decided to remove Mobb Deep from the label.

...

I don't understand how Jive could possibly think Mobb Deep would be a top selling group. And what's wrong with distributing a gold album? Jive are being silly there. If they only want to help out multi platinum artists, then why did they sign Mobb Deep in the first place?
