« on: May 05, 2005, 02:01:39 PM »
polls just shut at 10pm.. its all counting now..

final result in 11 hours

Exit Poll Result : this could be waaaaaaay out..

labour majority of 66 down from mid 100s..  a loss of 4%
conservatives gained 44 seats    .. but a 0% change.. (dunno how that works? lol)
lib dems gained 2 seats.. viewed as a disapp ointment for them..  gains of +3%
others UKIP, BNP etc .. gains of +2%

said to be bad for the labour party....

if this exit poll is right it'd be the smallest winning majority by a government ever

most people sdaying its going to be an interesting night..

646.

It's been a while since I've studied british politics, but I really like the way you handle things over there. It's an nice system.

I'm sure I'm wrong, but I was under the assumption that there are 645 Parliamentary districts?

nice system in that the person with the most seats actually wins? :)

"How many constituencies are there in the UK?
There are 646 seats up for grabs in 2005. The number fluctuates with electoral boundary changes and has been reduced from the 659 in the current Parliament but cutting the number of Scottish seats, to reflect devolution. In the 1992 Parliament there were 651 constituencies."

i'm off to bed now....

general pattern across the country seems to suggest that lib dems may take a bunch of senior tory seats as they've put effort into campaigning against high profile, but vunerable conservative MPs

they are saying all over that people have been voting lib dem out of protest in safe labour seats.. but that labour are keeping those.. and that in other seats the lib dems have been concentrating on decapitating the conservatives... which is how i voted against the tories..

the pattern seems have held mostly...

my town went from conservative to lib dem.. but the another closeby seat went the other way..

the guy that runs the www.tdbc.info site should be happy...
he had vans dotted all over town with huge billboards dissing the councillors here
