I wish Fat Joe would...
« on: August 24, 2005, 11:16:11 AM »
Okay, after listening to "All Or Nothing" a few times, I came to the conclusion that it could have been a good album, if it wasn't for all those fucking mainstream-orientated/club-songs. The only "good" one was "So Much More" in my opinion.

I wish Fat Joe would make an album full of songs like:

Definition Of A Don
My Lifestyle
Take A Look At My Life
The Wild Life
Born In The Ghetto
Gangsta
Safe 2 Say (The Incredible)
Still Real
etc...

He comes sick on all of them. Good lyrics, flow is on point and the beats are good.

I assume that his record label probably plays a major role in choosing the songs and telling Joe what kind of songs he needs to make, and that's what makes it fucked up. I think if it was up to him, he'd only do perhaps 1 or 2 party songs on each album, and make the rest of it hardcore.

(I haven't heard "Jealous One's Envy" & "Don Cartagena" (his first 2 albums), so I can't comment on that.)

Doesn't that go for 90% of the popular rap music that comes out today?

@ Elvez: Yeah, but most of those artists actually succeed in making a good club song. Fat Joe doesn't in my opinion...(except for those few songs that I mentioned).
Another artist who also fails at making club-bangers is Fabolous. Dude got skills, but I just can't stand his party songs.

I honestly think with this album he chose to have all those party songs on it, becuase the Terror Squad album with Lean Back wasnt filled with any, so he figured thats why he didnt sell with that album, he had the biggest single late last year, but the biggest dud-of an album becuase it didnt sell, so he packed an album full of video-single-radio shit to fall back on if he got another hit, why else would he get beats from people like Timbaland, Just Blaze, Scott Storch? he wants to be in the club...

True story.
He tries so bad to do 50 numbers, so he's watering it totally down.
J.O.S.E. was his last dope album, even though it had some fillers as well.

Hittman is not a real person. He was a computer program generated by Dr. Dre and Mel Man back in the mid 90's. When Dre started treating Mel-Man like shit, Mel infiltrated the computer and put a virus in the hittman program

Can't remember the name of the album, but the one that had 'shorty gotta fat ass' and 'shit is real' wasn't too bad.

Loyalty was okay, just didn't have any real replay value. JOSE is probably my favourite album of his, but i was never really into his music.
