It's too bad Cedric Bozeman (of UCLA) wasn't invited to summer league...Lakers said they liked him and he's a triangle type player. Oh well, Michael Fey is there, and though he was injured for most of last season, he was a very solid big when he peaked with UCLA...PeACe.

The Lakers' Bynum again expected to pack the gym.

By ADAM MAYA
The Orange County Register

Capacity crowds watched Andrew Bynum play in the Summer Pro League last year.

Andrew Bynum arrived at The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach a year ago to a maximum capacity crowd, with hundreds denied at the door. More than 5,000 people came to see the youngest player in NBA history in his first Summer Pro league game.

And he had no idea.

"I didn't know that until after," Bynum said. "I thought it was always like that."

Bynum, at 18 still the youngest player in the league, said he expects to see the same type of crowd at the Lakers summer-league opener today. Given how little he played last season Bynum doesn't think his novelty has worn off.

For the past two months he has committed himself to showing everyone how much he has progressed. Instead of returning home to New York, Bynum was at the Lakers training facility in El Segundo every day working out.

"I think he's made tremendous strides," Lakers assistant coach Kurt Rambis said. "He's been here every day over the summer, lifting weights. You can see his body has changed. He's definitely more mature."

^I just got back from the 3 o'clock Lakers/Grizzlies game, Lakers lost by 2 points, 87-89 but it was a very good game...Lakers could've won but there were some wack ref calls goin' on & a few easy shots from some of the players that didn't go in...

Andrew Bynum played real well overall, he had like 16 pts (may have been a little more but that's what I remember) & he made most of his free throws, I just wish they could've used him more in the game but maybe in later SPL Laker games they will...Farmar played real good too, he had the most support from the crowd & he made a few tight shots...the crowd atmosphere was real dope, everyone was pretty active in doing the usual "DEEEE FENSE!" & "Let's Go LAKERS!" type chants, too bad at Staples there isn't that type of stuff going on that much, it would give the Lakers more of a morale boost...the Lakers made a good choice in Pinnock though, he was pretty much the best all around player on the team in the game...

Yea, I heard Bynum could have done a lot better and Farmar was good, but kinda playing with nerves...I also heard that Wafer is falling off hard and Pinnock was pretty much getting the most recognition...I wanna go to tomorrow games. Where did you get the tickets and how much were they for?

^Yeah, both Bynum & Farmar were nervous in the beginning but they got better later, especially Bynum, he caught some dope alley oops, I can see why they're holding on to Bynum, he's got real good potential...

For the tickets you can buy 'em online at longbeachstate.com or just go to the pyramid box office & pay for 'em in person there, it's $12 each for general admission tickets & you can sit anywhere you want inside & you don't have to stay for the whole time, you can go to any of the 5 games they got playing there & you can always come back later for the other games they got that day as long as you've still got your ticket...
