^^Bad news for Luke Walton fans?...That's bad news to anyone who is a true LAKER FAN. But Luke will be back soon...Plus, Radman's been stepping it up and gaining confidence in Luke's absence...Now when Luke returns, we'll have an unstoppable small forward rotation... 8)

lol, phil still hasn't handed out the annual reading assignments yet for this season

Jackson hasn't turned the page yet

ATLANTA — Where are the books?

Lakers Coach Phil Jackson typically hands out a book of individual significance to each player during a lengthy December trip, but he postponed it until the current eight-game trip.

Then he revealed Tuesday it wouldn't happen until a four-game excursion next month that takes the Lakers through Phoenix, Minnesota, Milwaukee and Philadelphia.

"I had all the books in a bag, a Barnes and Noble bag, but I decided I didn't want to bring them," said Jackson, who didn't feel entirely comfortable with his selections. "I have like five books in there that I feel OK about them, but … there's a book that I was looking for that wasn't available."

Last season, Jackson gave "Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking" to Kobe Bryant and Sun-Tzu's "The Art of War" to Lamar Odom.

His annual book-buying binge even came up in a testy locker-room rant Jackson unleashed on his players after their 95-84 loss last week to Indiana, Jackson said.

"I told them, 'You guys wouldn't read the … things anyway,' when I went off on a little outburst on them the other day. 'All you guys can do is play video games and watch porn movies.' "

Lakers' Brown to miss another 4-6 weeks

DETROIT — Lakers center Kwame Brown will be sidelined another four to six weeks after seeking a second opinion with a foot doctor in Indianapolis.

Specialist Dave Porter confirmed team doctors' earlier diagnosis of a severely sprained left ankle and a bone bruise, and gave Brown a revised timetable to return, sources said.

Brown has been out since landing awkwardly after blocking the shot of Philadelphia guard Andre Miller on Dec. 31. Brown, averaging 8.7 points and 6.6 rebounds, has missed 18 games.

When Brown was injured, the Lakers initially declined to provide a timetable for his return, although severe ankle sprains typically take four to six weeks. Brown has tried to come back recently and has practiced with the team, but he has felt pain whenever he jumps. He dunked a ball in practice in Indiana last week but afterward said he was in pain and left the court.

Two weeks ago Brown took part in light workouts and hoped to return midway through the team's current eight-game trip. The Lakers are 3-2 on the trip, which concludes Sunday in Cleveland.

Jackson said Bynum would be fined $50 — although he would not have been fined had the shot gone in. Responded Bynum: “I’ll just give it to him in pennies.”

Classic  ;D

He'll be back man, don't trip. This just gives Bynum more time to develop...Hell, him an Mihm might BOTH return this season. 8)

The Lakers look to finish their road trip strong as they visit the Palace of Auburn Hills tonight to face the Detroit Pistons. Detroit currently sports the best record in the Eastern Conference, but has one less win than the Purple & Gold

There was a big argument between Cook and some of the coaches that was untelevised on the West Coast, they showed it on the post-game show though.

KCAL just broke down what happened after the game. Brian Cook, who was already frustrated with the limited amount of playing time he's been getting in recent games, was called to be subbed in late into the fourth quarter. Cook took off his warm-up gear and tossed it at Phil Jackson's lap. They're not sure if it was intentional, but they assumed Cook was once again upset about the fact that it took them that long to put him in after they were down by so many points. So they took it as an act of disrespect and immediately called him out of the game and put in Bynum.

John Ireland said the management is mad at Cook right now and he might get traded to another team, especially since he's visibly upset with his amount of playing time.
