NEW YORK (Ticker) - Kobe Bryant, who is on the greatest scoring binge since Wilt Chamberlain, was named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday for the second straight week.

Bryant averaged a staggering 51.0 points in helping the Los Angeles Lakers to a 3-0 record. He became just the second player in league history to score 50 or more points in four consecutive games, joining Chamberlain, who holds the record with seven set in December 1961.

Bryant scored 60 points in a 121-119 win at Memphis on Thursday and 50 in a 111-105 road victory over the New Orleans Hornets. His streak ended with 43 points in Sunday's 115-113 win over Golden State.

Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace won Eastern Conference honors. Wallace averaged 20.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.33 blocks and 1.33 steals in helping the Bobcats split four games.

Wallace totaled 27 points, 11 rebounds, five blocks and four assists in a 108-100 overtime win over Cleveland on Tuesday. He sat out Saturday's loss to New Jersey.Other nominees were Chicago's Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich, Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki, Houston's Tracy McGrady and Toronto's Chris Bosh and T.J. Ford.

Congrats to Phil Jackson The Zen Master
Lakers Coach Phil Jackson, a winner of nine NBA championships, has been named to enter the Basketball Hall of Fame, a league source said.

The new members won't be announced until Monday, but nominees who are elected are typically informed by Hall of Fame officials the Friday before the announcement takes place.

Jackson, 61, will become the Lakers' 18th inductee at a ceremony in September in Springfield, Mass.

He declined to comment Friday, but spoke reflectively of a Hall of Fame spot when the Lakers put him up for nomination earlier in the season.

"It's an honor," Jackson said at the time. "I've always said these types of things are a reflection of a lot of things — the system that we've run, the influence of the people that have been on my staff, and the players we've been lucky enough to have coached."

Jackson has an overall NBA record of 915-387 (.703).

Unlike players, coaches do not need to be retired for five years to be considered for the Hall of Fame, but they need to have 25 years of coaching experience. Jackson is in his 16th season as a head coach, but his time as an assistant coach with the Chicago Bulls and New Jersey Nets counts toward the requirement.

They need to give Ronny more P.T. in future games, he played real well last night & I hope toward the end of the season & in the playoffs Phil lets him play with Lamar & Kwame more often, they were a triple-threat last night.... 8)
