Kobe Decides To Forgo Surgery

Quote
Lakers' guard Kobe Bryant has decided against having surgery to repair damage in his right pinkie finger, according to Associated Press.

He opted not to have surgery after discovering that the recovery time following the procedure could be 12 weeks.

Los Angeles opens training camp on Sept. 27, while the 2008-09 season kicks off Oct. 28 against Portland.

Kind of a dumb reason but oh well. He shot 50% AFTER the pinky injure so fuck it.

The LA Lakers signed free agent combo guard Brandon Heath(1.90-G) who played last season for Orleans in the ProA league in France. The deal was announced by the Lakers official site.

Brandon Heath played for 4 seasons in San Diego State in the NCAA where he graduated in 2006-2007 with impressive figures of almost 20 points per game. Most recently, Heath played for the Los Angeles Clippers 2008 Summer-Pro League team in Las Vegas, averaging 5.6 points and 1.0 rebounds in five games played and it seems that it was enough to get him a contract in the magic world of the NBA.

Last season he averaged 12 points 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 25 games in the ProA. Heath is a very athletic guard that can do many things in the court apart from scoring.

4 candidates for Tau

According to El Correo Digital, the administration of Tau is considering 4 american players for the position of the starting point guard in Tau in order to cover for Dragic's imminent transfer to the NBA and the Phoenix Suns.

President Querejeta said that they are looking for someone that will make a good pair with Pablo Prigioni and he also said that youngster Nocedal will be promoted to the main team. He also said that the team is considering 4 american players at the moment for that position.

Rumors from Spain say that one of the candidates is Smush Parker(1.93-PG/SG). Smush Parker has played in numerous teams in the NBA including Cleveland, Detroit, Phoenix, LA and Miami. He also played for one season(03-04) in Greece and Aris Thessaloniki. In his last season he played for Miami Heat and the LA Clippers. In 28 games he averaged 5.9 points 2.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

simply more competition for dwayne mitchell, joe crawford, and coby karl in training camp...out of those 4, i think it will come down to either coby karl or joe crawford.

Lakers sign C.J. Giles

Sep 12, 5:20 pm EDT

INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA (TICKER) —The Los Angeles Lakers signed forward C.J. Giles on Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 6-11, 240-pound Giles, who played two seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks before transferring to Oregon State, appeared in 10 games for the Beavers last season before being dismissed from the team in late January. He averaged 6.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game at Oregon State.

He had a history of behavioral issues at both schools, which led to his dismissal from Kansas and once caused him to be benched at Oregon State for a pattern of showing up late to practice.

Giles possesses excellent physical attributes for an NBA big man, starting with a 7’4” wingspan and an excellent frame which he has clearly worked on over the course of his college career. He has a picture perfect body for an NBA center, and the bulk he added during his two years at Kansas has not affected his athleticism one bit. When motivated, Giles runs the court like a guard, which led to some easy baskets for the Jay hawks two seasons ago.
