you should check if you are on the right network. it must be EFNET.

go to file, options and then on the left you see the connect dialog. This is where you can select different servers. There are a lot of efnet servers so it doesnt matter which one you take. Try to take the one that is the closest to where you live. but it has to be EFNET. Once you did that you press "connect to irc server" and after you are connected you join #westcoastconnection
