Even though 2001 wasn't a particularly great year for hip hop there were still a lot of good songs. These are some of them.

Ras Kass - "Home Sweet Home"
OutKast - "The Whole World"
Jay-Z feat. Eminem - "Renegades"
Busta Rhymes - "Shut 'Em Down 2002"
Swollen Members feat. Moka Only - "Fuel Injected"
Swollen Members feat. Son Doobie - "Burns and Scars"
Kardinal Offishall feat. Various - "Ol' Time Killin'"
Dilated Peoples - "Worst Comes To Worst"
Ghostface Killah - "Ghost Showers"
Ghostface Killah feat. Raekwon - "The Hilton"
Nas - "One Mic"

I'd say my #1 is can't Go Wrong, DJ Quik and Kurupt

#2 would be The wash

was so fresh, so clean released last year?  If so, that'd be #2.
