The song with Too Short is dope. It's produced by DJ Pooh. Good to see he and Cube aren't beefin' anymore. Hopefully Pooh could help with "The Last Friday"?

Cube acted like he wrote the first "Friday" when most of it was supposedly written by Pooh. I think Solo talked about it in his new interview with Soren Baker.

Did this actually come out on Interscope? I don't think Cube spent a lot of money on the beats. I wonder if he tells the producers he works with these days that he wants that particular sound, 'cause the beats on "Tomorrow", "Too West Coast", "Sasquatch", "Only One Me", "Fire Water" etc all have similar sounds.

First 7 songs wack to much bullshit political talk, and south beats and wack lyrics, proper disappointed garbage album

He had political lyrics always

Yeah, what the fuck is you talkin' about?

Cube = Political and gangsta rap
This my town, I run it, you walk it
You just now learniní the game, I taught it

played the album at work today and I swear some of y'all just look for anything to bitch about lol did I really read someone complain that Cube of all people is too political?

aside from some of the beats being kinda repetitive/average in the later half, this was way better than I Am The West and I'd also argue as an album it's better than Raw Footage... need to give it a few more spins before I decide to cop a hard copy or not

did anybody notice that mastering of the album really sucks? who the fuck mix mastered this album and made it sound like that? one by one every song on the album sounds worse than it really is because of the guy who is responsible with mix mastering .

Sucks that (mostly young) artists don't invest in proper mastering anymore.

I did a quick background check on dude who mixed and mastered the album (Dave "Dizmix" Lopez) and it looks like he's a seasoned engineer who's worked with Ludacris, Lil Jon, WC, Snoop, Bootsy Collins, Beyoncť, Brandy, Angie Stone + a gang of other R&B artists. Welp, shoulda sticked to engineering instead of mastering.

hey people spotify streaming gives really good quality, i don't mean its equal to cd. but we listen and stream other artists albums and songs on spotify. i never heard that kind of garbage mastering before. yes we are listening on spotify but it doesnt change that fact that mastering of the album ruined any good thing done on the album. everything sounds so limmited and compressed. if you think that im wrong just because im streaming on spotify, i bet you have raw footage cd too. please bump that 2 cds on your best sytems and headphones. you will understand when you compare, if you have that qualification to compare any mix mastering.

Quote
Ice Cube Talks Alt-Right, Border Wall and Kanyeís Love of Trump

ďIt was a weak attempt to scare people,Ē the Everythangís Corrupt rapper says of the Charlottesville neo-Nazis
By Kory Grow

Rolling Stone

Ice Cube discusses the alt-right, the border wall and Kanye West's love of Donald Trump, as well as his new album, 'Everythang's Corrupt.'

Last year, as people stormed the streets of Charlottesville with tiki torches as a symbol of white pride, Ice Cube didnít flinch. ďIt was a weak attempt to scare people,Ē he says. ďItís just a very weak attempt to make people feel like something was about to happen, or that this movement was out there ready to take over. It just reminded me of some Nazi, Ku Klux Klan stuff, so I wasnít feeling it. I wanted to take their tiki torches and Ö you know what with them.Ē

The ever-outspoken rapper, actor and producer wrote about his contempt for the alt-right on ďChase Down the Bully,Ē a foot-stomping, funky call to arms on his new album, Everythangís Corrupt. ďI just hate bullies, man,Ē the 49-year-old says in a tone that lets you know heís had it. ďItís time for the good people to take over. Weíre not running from nothing. Bring it on.Ē Itís one of many current events he addresses on the long-in-the-works LP, which also includes tracks like ďArrest the President,Ē ďGood Cop, Bad CopĒ and, of course, ďEverythangís CorruptĒ ó a track he released in 2012 with a video that skewered then-presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.

ďI think people would beg for Mitt Romney right now to be the Republican president over Donald Trump,Ē Cube says. ďIf we had to go Republican, I think they would want somebody whoís not so selfish.Ē

Although the album isnít entirely political ó lead single ďThat New FunkadelicĒ is his bid at George Clintonís throne and ďAinít Got No HatersĒ is a reunion with ďIt Was a Good DayĒ producer DJ Pooh and his pal Too $hort ó Cube doesnít hold back. And even though a lot has changed in the political climate since he conceived the title, Everythangís Corrupt, he tells Rolling Stone it resonates even stronger with him today when he thinks about whatís going on in the world at large. ďI know thereís controversy on the record, but remember everybody is talked about on the record,Ē he says. ďNobodyís exempt on the Ice Cube record, ícause I think we all pencils that need to be sharpened every now and then.Ē

Why do you think the alt-right feels emboldened to do things like hold marches?
I guess itís the Internet. When you sit behind your little computer, you can be anything you want to be. But then you realize when youíre just sitting behind a computer spewing venom, youíre a coward. So that starts to eat at you and you feel like, ďI got to do something to show that Iím just not a coward in the shadows with these views, but Iím bold enough to step out in front of the public with it.Ē And these people feel empowered by the tailwinds of the presidentís attitude. So they come out and they show they ugly face.
It seems like the media has been paying more attention to the alt-right, too. And maybe they shouldnít so much because it just gives them a platform.
Well, you canít ignore cockroaches, you know what Iím saying? [Laughs] You got to do something about it or itís going to just crawl in the corner and more are going to come out. Now thatís just an analogy, but at the end of the day, when people are totally against what you believe in, thereís no way you can see eye to eye. They want us to go backwards and weíre not going back.

Another thing you addressed in ďChase Down the BullyĒ is Trumpís border wall. What do you make of that?
Itís dumb. Itís a waste of money. Itís kind of pathetic. Itís sad when you got to put up a fence around your house. Some people feel like they need it, but all youíre really doing is closing yourself off to the world. Walls, all they do is build division. [Pauses]. I donít think heís going to get it. Heís running out of time to get that done. A year from now, heís going to feel like a lame duck.

You went hard on Trump on ďArrest the President,Ē saying heís ďRussian intelligenceĒ and treats the White House like a trap house. What was the tipping point that made you feel like you had to write that song?
I wrote it after the summer. It just fit the mood and the feel of Everythangís Corrupt, and [corruption] starts at the top. Iím not saying it wasnít corruption before President Trump got there, but people are going to jail. People getting indicted. Donít tell me that itís a ďwitch huntĒ; thatís just not true. So something ainít right. And that ainít me hating. Thatís just me observing.

ďWhen youíre just sitting behind a computer spewing venom, youíre a coward.Ē

Do you think Trump will be locked up?
I donít think the president is going to jail. I just donít think the country can stomach that embarrassment. Thereís going to be some provision or something nobody knew about that they pull out they ass that says we canít lock him up. But all these other people getting locked up, and thatís just a shame. The buck stops with the president. And Iím not hating on the man. I just donít think heís president material. Itís very embarrassing. Heís violating the country in a lot of ways. Every day itís something. Itís just every day.

Kanye West sat down with Trump in the Oval Office this year. What would you say to Trump if you had that chance?
I donít think I would. Why should I do him a favor and tell him whatís wrong? He probably already know. He probably donít care, so itís a waste of my time.

What do you make of Kanyeís support of Trump?
Itís a free country. To me, itís misguided, but itís a free country. Sometimes you got to let people have their political views. I donít know if you should measure yourself on being friends or not friends with people whoíve got different political views than you. I think thatís a little childish. Somebody donít believe the way you believe, he ainít my friend. Come on. I feel like [with Kanye] Itís misguided support, but to each his own. I ainít hating on nobody or mad at nobody. I donít understand it, and Iím not feeling it.

Everybodyís got an uncle they donít agree with.
You canít throw him away just because you donít agree with him. That ainít cool. That ainít how it work.

What inspired the song ďBad DopeĒ on the record?
Just seeing so many people getting on pills and seeing people on all these super hard drugs from crack to meth. Iím like, these drugs are fucking you up, and Iím saying, ďYo, I could compare myself to that and people will understand what Iím talking about,Ē like Iím a bad drug about to fuck you up. So I approached the song like it was a bad trip, like you got a bad batch of dope and itís fucking you up and the song sounds fucked up.

Something about that song and the one after it, ďOn Them Pills,Ē also got me thinking about what Dave Chappelle said about the opioid epidemic, too. He said the White House is treating opioids differently than the Reagan Administration did with the crack epidemic was because of race.
Thatís probably true. I donít doubt it. We canít be shocked when white people are treated better than black people in America. We canít be like, ďOh, whatís this about? Wonder whatís going on behind this? Hmm?Ē Itís like, come on, yíall. Stop bullshitting. We know why itís like that. We already know the diagnosis, letís cure the disease. We know itís there. And nobody wants to do that part.

ďA year from now, [Trumpís] going to feel like a lame duck.Ē

Even if you think everything is corrupt, you still want to fix it.
Yeah, and the first thing is to recognize your house is dirty, and youíre like, ďI better clean up, or Iím gonna be a hoarder.Ē [Laughs]. I gotta recognize that shit is getting out of hand. Itís just gonna get more out of hand. So hopefully [the record] is shaking people and waking them up, saying, ďHey, hey, hey, this ainít how itís supposed to go. Letís go figure this out.Ē

Since youíve been working on this album since at least 2012, how did it change over the years?
I got a lot of records that didnít make it for whatever reason. Some of them were dated. Some records stood the test of time. It was a process of finding the time and really saying, ďYo, this is my time to work on the record,Ē and then letting myself become inspired. You got to hold your water a little bit until these concepts and lyrics organically come to you, and then you go to work. So I had to pick up the record and put it down because of Straight Outta Compton, the movie, and because of [the rapperís basketball organization] the Big3. I didnít want to cheat the record. At the end of the day, these are the records to me that represents Everythangís Corrupt. I probably still have great records that I didnít put on here, but those records donít represent the concept of the album.

Did you try to challenge yourself or try anything different on this one?
Not really.

No?
I wanted it to be in my wheelhouse. The only thing I did that was very experimental is ďThat New Funkadelic.Ē Thatís me trying to recreate what Funkadelic was to me. It was experimental, but it was very fun.

How did that come together?
We started the track from scratch. My man, T-Mix, made the music. Thereís no samples in there. To me, itís just a perfect remake of what that was, but up to date for now and talking about the West Coast, because P-Funk went to G-Funk, and that whole marriage is already great and welcomed.

Have you sent it to George Clinton yet?
He loved it. He just sent me a video of him listening to it, going off, talking shit and just loving the song, that we got the DNA. Thatís all I wanted to hear. Thatís all I needed to hear.

Rap has changed a lot since 2010, when you put out your last album, I Am the West. Did you concern yourself much with what had been going on?

No, because I think that that was the issue with I Am the West: I was trying to be super experimental, and thatís good to a certain extent. On this record, I wasnít worried about nothing else but Ice Cube fans and to give them exactly what they expect from me. I approached the record with the thought that Iím going to just do records that I know I can do great. It might not be the ones they play on the radio, but itís the ones my fans are going to love.

Now that the record is out, what are you working on next?
Iím trying to buy 22 regional sports networks. Thatís all my head is about. I believe that some of the gatekeepers thatís been holding the reins in sports over us for so long need to go. Itís time for some new blood to produce and present sports and culture, not only to America but the world. Itís time for new people that think in a new and different way have some control over what we see and what we get because the way the [regional sports networks] are being run now is pretty dismal. I think the sports world should hope that we get it.

What do you want to do differently with them?
Just add some life to it. We donít wanna give away the secret sauce, but we have a plan thatís 10 times better than any plan thatís out there. ĎCause nobody sees this and the growth potential like us, period. Nobody.

ďItís very embarrassing. I feel like [Trumpís] violating the country in a lot of ways.Ē

Howís the new Friday movie coming along?
It moves fast and then it slows down for business reasons, but we gonna get there. This is something Iím dedicated to making sure it happens, because the fans want it so much. So as entertainers, itís your job to at least give the people what they want sometimes.

I read that you had asked Chris Tucker to be in it but you havenít heard back yet.
Me and Chris, we hit each other all the time. We see each other every now and then. We very cool with each other. Itís still that everybody gotta do whatís right for them in their career. So when itís time to shoot the movie, I hope heís ready.

Is DJ Pooh, who co-wrote the original Friday, helping out with this one?
Yeah, heís helping me write it. We just got the Celebrity Deathmatch show, too, so Iím definitely having him help me with that. Heís a super creative dude. Heís a genius. Just underrated.

He produced ďAinít Got No HatersĒ on the new album, too.
With him, we can work through telepathy and itíll come out dope. He produced ďIt Was a Good Day.Ē When we got our heads in the right place, good stuff happens.

This year marked the 30th anniversary of the Straight Outta Compton album. What strikes you about it when you listen to it now?
We listened to it a lot when we were producing the movie, and it holds up. I still donít like ďSomething 2 Dance 2Ē; I still wish that record never saw the light of day. And I wish we wouldíve used the original ďDopemanĒ and not the remix on the record. I still have the same things I would do to make it better than what it is, even though I think itís a pretty perfect record. So I still love it. The first three tracks Ö the first four tracks, you just done. You gotta be hooked.

Getting back to Everythangís Corrupt and how bleak some of it is, where do you find hope these days?

In the spirit of good people. I still think thereís way more good people in the world than bad people. The good people just care if they get in trouble. The bad people donít. Thereís so many good people, weíd be crazy to let these few evil, Omen, Damien kind of geniuses walk around and blow us all up.

Got the album on repeat, it's bangin.
