Xzibit - 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz
« on: August 18, 2003, 01:36:05 AM »
was just listening to this... thought i might as well review it... since i havent seen any albums reviewed recently...

1. Intro
2. Chamber Music - the beat is different.... i like it. lyrically not bad. Does sort of get repetitive. 3.75/5
3. 3 Card Molly (ft. Ras Kass & Saafir) - DOPE!! probably the best track on the album. Beat sounds like the Bold & The Beautiful song, but it matches the lyrics, which are also dope. 5/5
4. What You See Is What You Get - average track. The beat is alright, lyrics are OK. 3/5
5. Handle Your Business (ft. Defari) - The beat is pretty deep, I like this track. Both verses are nice. 4.25/5
6. Nobody Sound Like Me (ft. Montageone) - Beat is OK. lyrics are pretty good. The hook is crap though.
3.5/5
7. Pussy Pop (ft. Jayo Felony, Method Man) - beat is kinda plain, but its still not that bad. Jayo steals the track tho. 4/5
8. Chronic Keeping 101 - skit.
9. Shroomz - Hehehe, i love the retro video game sounding tracks. dope shit. 4.75/5
10. Focus - off tha hook! i love this track, beat is dope, xzibit comes nice. one of my favourites off this album. 5/5
11. Interlude
12. Deeper - Nice beat. Nice lyrics. Nice. 4/5
13. Los Angeles Times - Beat is pretty good, but gets boring. Song about L.A. not bad lyrics. 3.75/5
14. Inside Job - Not feelin this track that much. Beat's kinda uninteresting. 2/5
15. Let It Rain (ft. Tha Liks, King T) i fuckin love this track! beat is one of those ones that isnt that comlex, but its dope. Lyrics are dope. Another extremely dope track. 5/5
16. Recycled Assassins (ft. Montageone) Deep beat, lyrics are pretty deep too. I like this. 4/5
17. Outro

Overall
Pretty solid album, nothing too bad on this album, but there's some heaters on there.

4/5 album.

kick ass album

i disagree with your ratings on Chamber Music, What U See Is What You Get & Los Angeles Times, they're all 5/5 for me. i'd give this album 4.5/5, nice review tho homie

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Overall: 4.5 mics...This is Xzibit's best album. This album to me has the best elements of At The Speed of Life and Restless. It has the raw lyrical flavor and the grimyness of ATSOL and the refined production and bumpability factor of Restless. It's just a well put together album. You have to give a lot of credit to Sir Jinx the Fiddler. You can hear his touch throughout the album.

Dope album overall and my favorite bangers have to be 'Pussy Pop' and 'Let It Rain'. The whole thing is fire though!
