All Eyez On Me
« on: June 26, 2001, 03:53:03 PM »

All Eyez On Me, quite simply, is a hip hop gem. I cant say this is Pacs absolute best album, but it is his most diverse one. I think he pretty much spoke on every subject on this album, and the album is beautifully consistant for a double cd. The album is based on the people he interacted with and/or dealt with in his life, whether it be fake bitchez, the police, friends, enemys, or HIMSELF. Truly a magnifcent concept album.

Ambtionz As A Ridah is his struggle to arise on top of those who have tried to lower him, and is over a brilliant Daz beat. The album has alot of great party tracks like All About U, Thug Passion, Check Out Time, etc....but its the meaningful songs where Pac shines his best. Life Goes On is a tribute to a dead homie and is one of the most beatifully constructed songs ive heard. Only God Can Judge Me is a political song, and a strong point of the album. A huge hit was 2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted f/Snoop. Despite the huge radio airplay it recieved, this song actually has a message of the disadvantages of being a celebrity/star. Cant C Me is a great thugged out song, a great song to get pumped up to, and Whonda Why The Call U Bitch is a story-telling track about a prosititute which is almost too real to explain. Overall, this album has it all. There were a couple of slips, such as Whatz Ya Phone # [this song flat out SUCKED] and Picture Me Rollin [totally opposite of what Pacs music is supposed to stand for]. Also, I like the original California Love better than the remix. Other than that, this is a classic album, easily.......5/5. Disc 1 is a little stronger than Disc 2 though:

Disc 1:

1. Amibitionz Az A Ridah  5/5
2. All About U  4.5/5
3. Scandolouz  4.5/5
4. Got My Mind Made Up  5/5
5. How Do U Want It  4.5/5

10. Only God Can Judge Me  5/5
11. Tradin War Stories  4/5
12. California Love remix  4.5/5
13. I Aint Mad At Cha  5/5
14. Whatz Ya Phone #  1/5

Disc 2:

1. Cant C Me  5/5
2. Shortys Gonna Be A Thug  5/5
3. Holla At Me  5/5
4. Wonda Why They Call U Bitch 5/5
5. When We Ride  4/5
6. Thug Passion  4/5

good review, although i thought that "picture me rollin'" was a very tight song and it fit right in with the rest of the tracks. i do agree with the call on "what's ya phone #" cause that song just flat out sucks, i give the cd 5/5. it was a classic imo, and i thought it was 2Pac's best cd that'll ever be released, peace.

I thought the cover was kind of a bore, definitely different from the contents inside the case.

5/5 CLASSIC! One Of The Best Albums Ever! My Fav CD Ever!

The Album Is CLASSIC Because:

1. Songs - Over 95% Were DOPE! [Whatz Ya Phone # Was The Only Lackluster]

2. Impact - First Double Album Of New Material By An Artist. Pac Haters Say Master P Made The First Double CD But It Was A Compilation With A Shitload Of Diff Artists. Many People Released Double Albums But Not By Themselves Or Of New Material [eg. Too $hort Greatest Hits Was A Double CD And It Was Released Before Any Other]. AEOM Was The First Double Album Released By A Single Artist/Group With All New Material. After This Album Was Released Everyone Copied The Double Album Formula. This Album Arguably Brought The WEST/east Rivalry To A Peak Since He Shouted Out His "California Love" And Stated That "Westside Is The Best Side" Plus Pac Dissed The King Of New York Biggie In Numerous Songs. He Made A Whole Coast And Their Followers Hate Him Because Of This. But I Heard Niggaz In Brooklyn Still Bumped "Hit 'Em Up". And Even Though There Was A WEST/east Rivalry Pac Featured east Coast Artists On His Album [eg. Method Man And Redman]. Other People Copied This Formula And Featured Artists From Other Coasts On Their Albums During The War [eg. Biggie Featured Too $hort On Life After Death]. Musically This Was His Most DIVERSE Album. He Had Thought Provoking Songs Like "I Ain't Mad At Cha" And "Life Goes On". Tracks Full Of Anger And Confusion Like "No More Pain" And "Holla At Me". Pac Did Tracks For The Ladies On Songs Such As "How Do U Want It" And "Heaven Ain't Hard To Find". Street Anthems Like "2 Of AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted" And "When We Ride". Party Joints "California Love" And "Thug Passion". Lyrical Gems For The Tri-State Like "Got My Mind Made Up" And "Ambitionz Az A Ridah". All These Different Types Of Songs Was The Blueprint That Many MC's Had Copied Ever Since. It Has Been Argued That Biggie Copied It To An Extent On Life After Death By Trying To Get Flavors From Each Coast. B.I.G. Actually Made A More Diverse Album But He Used All Eyez On Me As A Blueprint. Pac Had Devante Who Is A Southern Producer Provide A Bouncy Track On "No More Pain" And Put East Coast MC's On "Got My Mind Made Up" To Show That He Did Not Hate New York But Only A Certain Camp. He Had MC's From The Bay And L.A. As Well. All In All This Album's Impact Will Definitely Be Felt For Many Years.

Every song in my opinion is at least a 4/5, at least 10 songs if not a couple more or 5/5.  Tha only wack song is whats ya phone #,  even Pac said that song sucked an he should of left it off,  but what's funny is all the 2pac dickriders still stay that song is great

^^^ damn G how can u not like "Picture Me Rollin'"...that song was dope! one of my fav tracks from disc 2...well i'm juss wonderin' what u didn't like about it? the beat? the lyrics?

true...the Cali Love original was CLASSIC...but the remix was almost as dope...just diff vibe...original was str8 party shit and the remix was some laid back G-shit!

and change that rating of 4.75/5 to it's true rating 5/5! ;D
