Hungry? Eat some paper!

Chicago chef invents instant meals you print out

US chef Homaru Cantu from Chicago has invented a computer that prints paper meals using ink made of liquidised food and low-calorie, edible paper. The printer produces a picture of a snack on soya bean and potato paper that diners can rip up and eat either in soup, or by having it baked or fried. Mr Homaru is offering his invention to diners at his restaurant Moto. He adapted an ink-jet printer with help from local computer specialists Deep Labs – they first experimented with ink made from crushed carrots, tomatoes and purple potatoes. Now they are working to get the flavours right and are applying for a patent. The chef said that the technology could be used in advertisements – consumers might see a picture of a pizza in a magazine and rip the page out to sample it. The technology could also help office workers to satisfy food cravings without piling on weight. David Mazovick of Deep Labs said that Mr Homaru "challenges every preconceived idea about food". A report on the technology appears in New Scientist.

And you know they'll never stop the furious force of my rhymes
So like they say, every dog has it's day
And like they say, God works in a mysterious way
So I pray, remembering the days of my youth
As I prepare to meet my moment of truth"

yeah. maybe if it actually got popular i'd try, but interesting as it is, i don't think you will ever come close to coming close to something equivalent to real food this way
