The Greatest 50 Hip-hop Albums Ever - #37...

N.W.A - Efil4zaggin (1991)

Sign Of The Times: New jack swing was in full effect.  While rappers were dancing for chicken and dressing in bright clown outfits.  N.W.A banged on wax dressed in Raiders apparel and Dickies work khakis.

Impact: This album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard chart with no video or radio airplay, which was unbelievable both then and now.  Its title printed backwards on the cover to quell fears of the controversial N-word, Efil4zaggin was the soundtrack for the American nightmare.  N.W.A’s second released followed the double-platinium Straight Outta Compton and extended their reign as the world’s most dangerous group.

The Payoff: N.W.A’s curt and unapologetic manner of capturing the blunt realities of urban dwelling send conservative hounds into an uproar, only increasing their popularity among white suburbanites.  With their ridiculous violent and misogynistic lyrics, N.W.A set the stage for the attacks rap music would endure in the coming decade.  After Luke’s First Amendment case, N.W.A were one of the first rap acts to gain the newly implemented parental advisory stamp.

yousendit.com sucks, what are the other sites similar to that one?

I won't be able to put the album up until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest, if someone wants to do it for me go right ahead.
