1. Intro - A news cast about Pac's struggles with the law and his shooting in NY. It is a precursor of what is to what would happen the following year.

2. If I Die 2Nite - One of his most prophetic songs ever. The beat is dark, and goes very well with Pac's lyrics about predicting his own death. It's as if Pac is talking to God, telling him his visit to the pearly gates is inevitable. Classic song to start the album off..........5/5.

3. Me Against The World - One of the most inspirational songs written. This has a more positive vibe than the previous song, but its supposed to. This is one of those songs to listen to when you feel the world on your shoulders, it serves as a reminder that things always get better, no matter how hard the struggle maybe. It has a mid tempo beat completed with a nice verse from Dramacydal, though the female chorus can get annoying, but that's only a minor thing.........5/5.

4. So Many Tears - What is there to say about this song? CLASSIC. The harmonica is beautiful with the Stevie Wonder sample. The production here is again dark, and Pac drops some of his most inspiring lyrics ever in all three verses. The bassline is heavy too, so it makes a great song to play loud in the ride while educating the world with Pac's insightful lyrics. Great fuckin song...........5/5.

5. Temptations - This has a beautifully constructed dark beat, with a nice chorus. The subject matter is Pac speaking of remaining true or not to a woman, caught between commitment and infidelity. At first listen, it feels kinda out of place on the album, but it fits in nicely and remains one of Pac's biggest hits to date.........4.75/5.

6. Young Niggaz - A song for young kids who wanna join gangs. This has a West coast g-funk feel to it, that would be seen on his other masterpiece, "All Eyez On Me." Not much to say about this song, but is just another great song on a great album........5/5.

7. Heavy In The Game - This definitely has a Bay Area feel to it, and it features Richie Rich. Pac and RR trade verses about the twists and turns of the industry and the streets.......hence the title. The beat is sick as fuck, one of the tightest Bay Area beats ever perhaps. Classic 2Pac and RR song, perhaps their best duo song ever.......5/5.

8. Lord Knows - A song about Pac's struggles losing a friend. The bridge before each hook, "If I wasn't high I'd probably try to blow my brains out," explains why Pac always smoked weed, to keep himself sane. The last verse in particular is very graphic: "Homie died in my arms with his brains hangin'/fucked up I told him it was alright/and he knew it was a lie as he shook and died." One of the many lines in this song which will make you think. One of my favs on the album........5/5.

9. Dear Mama - The biggest hit off the album, and one of Pac's greatest songs. Basically, if you aint feelin this song, you might wanna go to the doctor and make sure your heart is still pumping. Nothing else needs to be said about this song, other than that is one of the greatest songs ever written in the history of music as we know it..........5/5.

10. It Aint Easy - Another slow song, but damn its nice. A song about him staying out of jail and trying to do right amongst all his troubles. The beat is slow, and the lead instrument really stands out. Perhaps one of his more underrated songs, but its classic.............5/5.

11. Can U Get Away - Pac is known for his woman positive songs he does on every album, and he put TWO of them on this album [this one and "Dear Mama"]. This is another warning song kinda like "Young Niggaz," but this alerts women in abusive relationships. The message is great, but the beat can get kinda annoying after awhile, making the song harder to listen to............4/5.

12. Old School - This doesn't really fit with the albums concept, but it is a nice song nevertheless. Showed the humble side of Pac, giving his dues to the pioneers who laid down the foundation of hip hop. The chorus is kinda annoying though............4/5.

13. Fuck The World - This song has a ton of cursing and is one of Pac's most angry songs ever. The beat is rather dull, but Pac's delivery and lyrics make up for it. It fits in with the album concept very well, a song about the pressures of the world adding up until one cant take it anymore...........4.5/5.

14. Death Around The Corner - CLASSIC, hardcore 2Pac. Just a life story as him growing up and living in a household with no role model and his life going in crazy directions. Nice voice sample, and the Untouchables sample is classic. The beat is similar to another 2Pac song called "Picture Me Rollin," but I like the beat in this song better.....5/5

15. Outlaw - A street song to end the album. The chorus is pretty nice, "Outlaw/Outlaw, they made me Insaaaaaaaane." Pac speaks at the end of the song, about how thugs will continue to grow through each generation............4/5.

Perhaps no name in hip hop has sparked as much love [or hate] as the name "Tupac Shakur." What was 2Pac? A Thug? A poet? Just another rapper? He was all of them rolled into one. However, outside his controversy with the law, if you just focus on his music, you will find some of the most poetic and deep lyrics ever written on record. Pac made you feel him with his raw emotion and insightful lyrics, and nowhere is this more true than on "Me Against The World," his fourth album [3rd solo album]. Released in March of 1995, this is widely hailed [along with "All Eyez On Me]" as his best album, and its easy to see why. The albums starts off with a news broadcast talking about his shooting in NY and troubles with the law, a reminder of the turbulent life he lived. It quickly goes into the dark and prophetic "If I Die 2Nite," a song in which Pac speaks about his own death. The album seems to be almost like a written story of his life. "So Many Tears" is a classic in which Pac struggles with his inner demons and is probably one of his deepest compositions ever written. "Young Niggaz" is a caution to adolescents who wanna join gangs at an early age for acceptance. He gives tribute to the pioneers of hip hop on "Old School," while tracks like "Death Around The Corner" [which has a sweet voice sample and a interpolation of Robert Di Nero's rant from The Untouchables] and "Heavy In The Game" are street songs, while the self titled song serves as an inspiration to accomplish all your goals no matter what stands in the way. Of course, the album also features what many consider his greatest song ever, "Dear Mama." It doesn't get any deeper than this song, and should make everyone appreciate their mom more......Lord Knows is another heartfelt track, especially the last
verse. All in all, this is arguably Pac's best work, and is probably his most solid album ever. The production isn't as good as his other classic, "All Eyez On Me," but this remains his most insightful work, and some of the most insightful work of any rapper EVER. This is one of the greatest albums ever recorded, and any true fan of hip hop should own this album.

5/5
