Red Sox/Indians Trade
« on: January 22, 2006, 11:16:08 AM »
Great trade for both teams, IMO.

Quote
With the return of Theo Epstein all but formalized, the Red Sox now appear on the verge of concluding a heretofore tumultuous offseason by acquiring both center fielder Coco Crisp and shortstop Alex Gonzalez.
And not a moment too soon.
According to baseball sources, the Red Sox and Cleveland Indians have agreed in principle on a deal that will bring outfielder Crisp to the Sox in a multi-player trade. The deal was agreed upon several days ago under the condition that Cleveland be able to acquire another outfielder to replace Crisp, presumably Jason Michaels from the Philadelphia Phillies.

Andy Marte will soon replace Aaron Boone as the Indians 3B.  So now the Indians are either Average or Well Above Average in EVERY Fieliding Position.

And the Red Sox now have a player that will outproduce Johnny Damon for years to come in Coco Crisp.

Well the Sox arent as bad as some people make them seem to be.

C-Varitek is Varitek
1B-Snow/Youkilis platoon (Although just having Youkilis as an everyday player would be better, this is still good), way better than Kevin Millar
2B-Mark Loretta- way better than what they had last year at 2B with Cora/Graffiano/Bellhorn
SS-Alex Gonzales- downgrade offensively from Renteria, but upgrade defnsively
3B-Mike Lowell- Bounce Back season and will easily outproduce Bill Mueller
LF- Manny is Manny
CF- Coco Crisp- Will produce better than Damon
RF- Nixon is Nixon
DH- Ortiz is Ortiz

And their bullpen/rotation  is the same, they just added Tavarez to the mix which will improve their team.

I definately can see this team score more than 910 Runs.  The key is Mike Lowell.  Mike Lowell will be the factor from either More than 910 Runs or less than 910 Runs.

And the biggest threat in the AL East is really the Blue Jays (especially if they sign Bengie Molina)  I still see the AL East as a three team race though, pretty tight race too

they need to have Youkilis start at 1st base over JT Snow

Red Sox always seem to have a crappy player at second base but Loretta is way better than what theyve had recently

Nixon is good when he wants to be

Hopefully Manny won't be gone this year

other than that theres not much of a problem for the Sox

when was jt snow on the juice, he has hit 20 homeruns in a season since 1999 and he was never a big power threat, he had a few nice seasons but nothing to ever suspect steroids.

i wouldnt put any money on lowell having a bounce back season.  Granted hes in a hitters ball park i still dont see happening

SLG from 1998-2005

Ages 30-37
98- 435
99- 455
00- 464
01- 393
02- 383
03- 428
04- 519
05- 368

His most productive season as a 36 year old is pretty fishy to me, then to see a huge dropoff the year after there is testing.  Hmm.

i could understand if he was a ehhh player and then had a few  good season an then dropped off again but it was one season.  fluke seasons do happen.  And i have never ever heard anyone accuse jt snow of steroids.

good deal for the sox. and on the yankees, johnny damon used to be a humble guy, aint get ahead of himself, thas one of the reasons he was so good: he was mentally sound. now hes a cocky mutherfucka ("im the best leadoff hitter in the game"- sportscenter inteverview on his new deal), and hes gonna fall off fast cus hes not focused anymore like he used to be. just watch.

So? The Yankees are STILL going to make the playoffs with a sub-par Damon. Most Yankees hope he fucks up  ;D
