Its true though what he is saying, for a westcoast artist, its hard to make it without going through the avenue of Dr Dre or snoop, compared to the Eastside, south, where there are loads of avenues.  He should be manager of overseeing new talent, he's got good choices.

Exactly. I mean if you look at most of the major labels(like 98%), all the magazines, tv shows, they are all in new york. We really only have Dre...it's messed up that all of the new talent on the west gets held back cuz we only have one avenue...major disadvantage. I believe that is the reason why the west coast can't come back. Not becuz of the west coast sound...they been innovating it...changin it over the years...we been have more lyrical cats appear now...plus alot of the production on the east and south today are west coast influenced. It's all about the major labels...

I gave Warren 3 1/2 at AHH...hopefully that doesn't qualify for an ass kicking! ;D

Good to see that the album is getting mostly positive responses though...
"Shit ain't all peaches and cream, and I ain't Sara Lee, bitch!" - Lloyd Banks

"I'm Morpheus in this Hip-Hop Matrix, exposing fake shit." - Common

"With consecutive platinum hits, I up my status. Ain't no more Calvin Broadus!" - Snoop

"Look at all these conscious rappers - guess who influenced them?" - KRS One

NobodySmiling.com : With the success of '213' first album, The Hard Way, does the group plan on releasing another album ?

Warren G : Yea, actually me and Snoop talked about it the other day, We just gotta hook up with Nate and go grind it out. And once we do that then we’re going to kill the game again.

and hopefully warren produces on it this time!
Always talkin bout the cash he got, the little pesos for shows
And God knows his materialistic raps and wack flows
are like Stay Free pads, fake V.I.P. rappers get garbage disposed
Unrecouped for his flamboyance and reflection

NobodySmiling.com : Your latest album, In the Mid- Nite Hour, dropped back in October 2005, so what are the numbers looking like so far?

Warren G : To be real with you, I don’t even know. I didn’t even check. The company I’m on is an independent label (Hawino Records). The numbers aren’t humongous but they will grow.

There was an interview with the Lox (D block) a couple of months ago, and they were saying that the advantages of having an independent label is the higher percentage of the profit you get to keep from each album sale.  they were saying when they were first signed they made such a little amount off each album like 80 cents or something in that region.  also they were giving examples of people from the south making so much going through independent labels.though there are disadvanatges of independent labels like promotion, i think an independent label is the best suited for Warren G in  the mean time, he has a lot more control , freedom and stuff, which i think he wanted because of his past experiences, Universal...
