That's too close to call. All those lyrics are hot.
-His lyrics on the Chronic was classic West Coast gangsta hip-hop lyrics. Dre sounds his best ever on "Let Me Ride".
-His lyrics on "Keep the Heads Ringin" were iller than any of those so-called lyricists on the East Coast were spittin at the time...
...I always thought it was dope back in the day when the East Coast thought they were the real emcee's of hip-hop and then Kurupt would serve them on tracks like "New York, New York" and Dre definitely outdid them on "Keep the Heads Ringing"... however... Snoop tried to outdo the East Coast on a few tracks on the Doggfather album, one track he even tried to freestyle; needless to say, Snoop failed on that attempt.
-The rhymes Eminem hooked him up with were crazy as well, they really served to position Dre and his comeback record and they definitely delivered the knockout blow. It made Dre sound more like he was crazy at times rather then smooth like he was on the Chronic album. I prefer the Dre of the Chronic album, but there has never been a better writer in hip-hop than Eminem.
-Knocturnal also came through in a big way with "The Watcher" because Dre sounded like a true O.G., the tracks were introspective, kind of like a more down to Earth version of "Been There Done That".
