The funny thing about that "Wash" song is the interpolation.  It's the riff from "Smiling Faces" and I think that's how they credit it on the album.... but it's also the riff from the chorus of "I wanna do something freaky to you"... which is also the same song (at a different spot in the song) that Dre sampled for "Nothin' But a G Thang".  Go download all three songs and you'll see what I mean.

Snoop is not lyrically worthy of spittin on a dre track these days.  Then again, nearly nobody that spits on Dre beats these days is worthy, but it doesn't stop them.  Snoop hasn't dropped a dope verse since "Big Business" on Swizz Beatz album.

I'll take HITTMAN over Snoop.

snoop dropped heat on that "so fly" track with sugaf ree...

Snoop does sound good over promo's beats...Check Protectors of 1472 or The One & Only and he was good on "In this Life" also

The only person that is tight that raps over dre beats is Game and we will see how Havoc sounds over this Dre beat on Blood Money, But I dont ave much Hope For Prodigy hopefully he can sound nice over a dre beat.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean, it's confusing as hell. When I first heard it, the first thing that came to my mind was the Leon Haywood song "I wanna do somethin freaky to you", but then I heard Smiling Faces and realized it sounded just like that too. He samples/interpolates the strings from Haywood's song a bit.

I always considered "The Wash" to be a modern day "Nuthin' But A G Thang". Aside from the beats having similarities, lyrically there's a few throwback lines in there.

G THANG
"Ain't nuttin but a G thang, baaaaabay!
Two loc'ed out niggaz so we're craaaaazay!
Death Row is the label that paaaaays me!"

WASH
"If you tryin to get a dub sack, page me
The ho's say "D-Loc, you so crazy"
Poppin that shit don't phase me
I need my chips and the dip it's like gravy"

G-THANG
"Fallin back on that ass, with a hellafied gangsta lean"

WASH
"Fallin back on that ass, hit the switch and let the ass just drag"

G-THANG
"But uhh, back to the lecture at hand
Perfection is perfected, so I'ma let em understand"

WASH
"Now back to the lecture at hand
Perfection is expected and I'm feelin that demand"

Plus, they way they tride mic time on the track, back & forth...it's like the real sequel to "G Thang". Definitely slept on.

Actually....I donno if y'all realize it, but Snoop ALWAYS brings his A+ game when he works with Dre. It seems like Dre pushes him, and others like Eve, to the best of their ability when they are on his tracks. Think about it, on Chronic 2001 and even on The Wash, Snoop sounded GREAT on the songs with Dre. The Wash song itself was a certified but slept on classic in my opinion. Even just hearin his adlibs and hook on Xzibit's "Losin yo mind" was dope as hell.

So yeah, whenever they do connect it's always good and Snoop does his thing. Lyrically, Snoop never did bring any heat, but times have changed and people value lyrics, mainly punchlines and multis, much more than just havin a smooth laid back flow and delivery, along with personality.

Your right man, Dre does bring out the best in Snoop.
I will believe Detox when I hear a single for it and have the album in my hands.
but what if you loose your hands before Detox drops?

I always considered it  "The Wash" aka Nuthing But A G Thang Pt. II.  Sampled the same song, definitely had that classic laid back G-Funk sound.  For whatever reason, i wasn't feelin Dre & Snoops chemistry on it though.  It sounded kinda awkward.

I think snoop is a big enough boss now that he probably doesn't want to take direction from a perfectionist like dre. Dre's beats require a tight flow like he had on Deep Cover. Snoop can rock a tight flow but he seems to prefer that lazy laid back off meter shit these days.
