DJ Premier is better IMO but my favorite out of the two is Dre of course. Missy may be annoying at times but Timbo gave her some of his best beats.

Yeah right I just checked the booklet for "Moment Of Truth" & out of the 20 tracks only 3 contained samples.

what do you think dre does?...........he flips samples in his own way........you'd be surprised how much of his music is based off of samples.......its not as obvious because he has many of them replayed.........just cuz its a different form of producing doesnt mean you can take credit away from what premier has done

just to answer as 'simple' as you did

i think sampling is an art - not everybody can do it right, and most definately cant do it like premo!
difference  between dre and premo is, premo doesnt COMPOSE with basic instruments like dre does nowadays

but he still is as much as a producer as dre is, since he records raps over his beats, mixes the product and i dont know if hes mastering...
but a lotta producers let other ppl master their shit - so this is no big deal, it's just b/c they see an advantage in it

i personally choose dre in the vote,
but saying premo isnt a producer just isnt right, hes only not composing in the old fashioned way, but even sampling is composing to me - but one could argue about that
