hip hop is a culture, a movement, rap is the musical part of that movement, if u make rap that dont relate to that community, well it's just rap. krs one is hip hop, eminem is rap, got it? I guess nwa was on some sort of movement 2 so i consider them hip hop, but 50 cent only makes music for cash so he's not hip hop to me

I disagree strongly with this. Dr. Dre definitely makes music for the hip hop community. He has innovated more than any one individual in the last 20 years. He's created a whole new style of music, when you view hip hop from a musical standpoint. To say that Dr. Dre is not hip hop is a slap in the face to not only Dre, but many other hip hop artists such as Dre who have innovated and tried doing things differently. I guess using your definition, Outkast isn't hip hop, Roots isn't hip hop, DJ Quik isn't hip hop, E40 isn't hip hop, no individual who does anything besides sampling a break beat and putting scratches in the middle is hip hop. No one who innovates anything is hip hop. Let's keep it real and rap like they did in the 70's. I understand why people wouldn't consider 50 cent hip hop but Eminem is definitely hip hop, I don't see how he isn't (although Encore was horrible). Eminem on his first 2 albums was lyrically killing it, so how is that not hip hop?

no u dont understand what i'm trying to say, roots and outkast are definatly hip hop, but dre's music happen to be more often rap than hip hop because peeps that are rapping on his beats always speaks about merderin other niggaz aind pimpin bitches and shit like that, whil jeru the damaja, afu-ra, gangstar, inspectah deck, nas, krs one, rakim and freddie foxxx are closer to the original definition of hip hop. closer than game 50 cent 2pac and snoop. Rap music aint always hip hop, but it can be good without being related to the movement afrika bambaata created 30 years ago
