Snoop Dogg HASNT fallen off
« on: March 03, 2002, 07:44:52 PM »
You know...All I ever seem to read on these boards and all other boards is that Snoop Dogg has fallen off--he doesnt care, blah blah blah.  And Im REAL sick of reading it.

First off, some fools have said that because he's working with Ja Rule he doesnt care about his fans.  Hmm..couple of things to consider here.  First off, maybe Snoop is friends with Ja Rule and respects his music.  Second off, the majority of hip hop fans (as sad as this is) love Ja Rule (look at his fucking billboard position week after week).  So how is Snoop working with somebody thats super popular in the hip hop community going to piss off the majority of his fans?  And no-greasy faced virgins like Tom187um are not the majority.

Also, I just listend to Topp Dogg today and it is a DAMNED good album.  So aside from "The Game is to be Sold.." which is more miss than hit, Snoop has fired back with "Topp Dogg" (4 mics), first Eastsidaz (4 mics), The Last Meal (4.25 mics), and Deuces and Trays (4 mics) IMO.  Also, Bones was a conceptual masterpiece and the Snoop songs of the Wash soundtrack are bangers.

And yes, Snoop's sound has changed a little since Doggystyle but hes 30 , not 19 now.  He's matured and he's making the kind of music he enjoys.  I dont know why you guys cant respect that.  I still think Snoop has one of the tightest flows in music.  The only thing Snoop is guilty of is guesting on too many albums, but he has seemed to slow that down to build up anticipation for his next album.  I cant wait for his next album and I hope it's a continuation of the sound and style of The Last Meal and Deuces and Trays--the NEW Snoop Dogg.

when he has the best record deal he will release his best album

that is why that swizz beats song he did and said was incredible
was takin off the last meal

the last meal was good but
snoop could have made it better
but didnt
because master p and priority get money off it

Yes snoops sound has changed ALOT since doggystyle. age has nothing to do with anything, you are as old as you feel. his flow is tight AT TIMES. he isnt as consistent as he used to be. see, i dont compare snoop to avg artist. i compare him to himself

alot of peeps always say how an artist has grown, and they aint gonna sound the same as they did when they were a young pup. which is true, but look at outkast they rhymes havent slipped at all since theyre debut.

the bottom line for me is....you cant come as TIGHT and VICIOUS as snoop did early in his career and expect most people not to notice or care when u aint comin tha same. now if we there was no snoop doggy dogg we would be satisfied with big snoop dogg. but that aint tha case. snoop is the one that set that high standard

by tha way top dogg is a tight album, but i wanna see snoop use some of dre's strategies and strive for that "perfect" album. for somebody as fortunate to work with dre as much as he has, he should use dre' record making strategies for his own benefit.
snoop hasnt fallen off, but he needs to push him self to reach his potential
I stay dipped like them fools in gq/ step into a party and they all say " he's cool"/

What bothers me is that Snoop Dogg will probably never be considered a hip-hop legend... he needs some (2 or more)damn good albums (classics) at the end of his career if he want that position.

Yeah.. he will definitely be remembered a long time after his retirement... but he won't make it amongst the hip-hop legends that will forever be remembered...

I been out... lol... but I ain't never heard no Snoop = G.O.A.T. talk... but he is one of the biggest emcees out there today... he'll be remembered... sadly he never had the lyrical skill required to be a G.O.A.T. contender or achieve legend status.
But I'm a Snoop fan... don't get me wrong. I just don't think he'll ever be looked upon as a legend.

I'd say Snoop is definatly a rap legend. He's achieved alot & he's been in this game for a long ass time now & even though none of his follow ups to "Doggystyle" were classic & even though I do think he fell off he's still been pretty consistent considering & he still has MASSES of fans.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.
