Snoop against Jay-Z and Ja Rule
« on: March 01, 2002, 08:40:31 AM »
Hi westcoastfans!

There iz something i really don't understand. Why iz people like Snoop Dogg, Dre ect. not as popular as Jay-Z (Gay-Z), Ja-Rule (Ja Fool) and DMX?

The westcoast music iz 100 times more dope than the others.

It's only because of da recordcompanys not being able to do good promotion, and Def Jam got their ass full of money!!!!

What u guys think?

because ja fool and gay-z are more commercial than westcoast artists....some like to call them 'pop rappaz'...plus to keep themselves popular they throw an album out every 6 months cos they're scared of being forgotten...whereas ppl like dre like to spend time on their albums...

As far as I can remember, 2001 outsold every one of Jigga's CD's.
But Jigga knocks out albums each year, so how's he NOT gonna stay in the limelight?
And Snoop sells a couple of million of each CD he puts out too, so that was pretty bad examples.

gots to agree with yall Julio G was hella tight!!!!!!!!!!  Snoop and dre are WAY betta than jigga and ja rule.  Also ja rule gets popular cuzz he's on movies that are tight like the Fast and the Furious ( as we know ja rule had no role in the movie...but to get smoked)

I'd say that was true to a certain extent, it depends, 'cos I think Jay pushes more units than Dre & them these days, but Dre & Snoop are by far more popular in terms of being icons, I mean c'mon, Dre & Snoop are fucking legends in this game!

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

Eastcoast rappers are a product of their record label.  Deals are cut with mtv to get them play, deals are cut with the leading pop divas to get them guest spots on their albums (J.Lo, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Etc. Etc.), Deals are cut with radio stations to get them play, etc. etc.
