Momento and Rewind by Nas

Why do so many people keep mentioning Nas's Rewind, saying he ripped off that movie from last year. What Nas did was different for Rap music, like what Momento did was different for movies. Momento was not 100% original either, if you remember a few years ago there was a Seinfeld episode that did the same thing, told the story backwards, and who knows where else in history this style of story telling this might have occured. The bottom line is Nas tried something that was not already over used in hip hop, that goes for his whole album. Too many rappers use overdone hip hop concepts only because they are proven to make sales. How many songs in rap are about money, sex, guns, and drugs ? Too many. Rappers like Jay-Z stick to these topics for the bulk of their albums, but you do the same thing over and over people get tored of you. Look at the sales for Hard Knock Life volume 2 compared to his recent albums. I think Blueprint is way better than v.2 but it's only platinum, while v.2 went 5X platinum. The bottom line is try new things, the don't have to be completetly original, but make sure they have already been over used.

Shallow, thats exactly how i feel. in today's world of music, a lot of things aren't original. Lyrics, beats, etc. are taken from other songs, and people think nothing of it. Then Nas comes out with this great song, and gets ripped on. Yeah, its similar to the movie in some regards, but who cares, its a good song, and he should be given credit for being the first (i think) to make a song telling the story backwards..peace

and actually there is a difference between memento and rewind. Memento was a puzzle movie while nas' rewind was literally backwards . In memento only in the beggining it was a rewind thing. Who cares, no rapper has pulled this off and Nas did it
