I heard 50 Cent even had something to do with the Rakim/Aftermath split. I don't even remember what exactly happened, but that's what I heard.

I heard that Rakim wasn't very cooperative in his work ethic when he was on Aftermath.

I read that Aftermath & Dre suggested that 50 Cent write hooks for Rakim, but Ra didn't want anyone but him writing the material. I guess Rakim knew better than that, look at the problems that came outta 50 writing hooks on Game's project.

from the interview sounds like dr dre wanted rakim to be a corny gangsta rapper to sell records and he wasn't feeling that. i guess dr dre is more interested in making money rather than quality music which is probably obvious anyway but also quite sad.

Personally, it would have been a dope project, but not as dope as everybody may have been expectin. From the songs we heard from Rakim in his Aftermath era, he sounded like a good B+ rapper, but not like the best rapper in history at the current time. More like a seasoned veteran past his prime.

so even after 3 years the reason is cus of creative differences,
Hittman is not a real person. He was a computer program generated by Dr. Dre and Mel Man back in the mid 90's. When Dre started treating Mel-Man like shit, Mel infiltrated the computer and put a virus in the hittman program

Bite ya tongue homey, Rakim is tha reason 98 percent of your favorite rappers are household names. Dude not only set the standard for producing quality tracks, but also made emcees step their lyrical content game up. Like someone said on that page where the interview was written. Tha lyrics GOD was puttin out in 88 are better than 90 percent of tha shit that's comin out today.

I can totally see what he was saying too. He's not worried about being a mainstream success.... he's worried about making music that's real and represents something.... if even a third of the combined rappers out today felt the same way, then every area would get a chance to shine, because the cream always rises to the top... and with or without Dre, Ra's next album is gonna be fire.

He hasnt put out an album but he can still spit fire i know RTISTIC said that he was more like a B+ Rapper, that could be so now, but that is still better then 98 percent of the rappers today. And if you listen to the WATCHER 2 with Jigga and DRE RAKIM has A+ lyrics IMO outshines DRE (no surprise) But Jay-Z as well which is saying something for a guy that is Past his Prime. Point being he can still spit and i cant wait to hear his new album hopefully somethin drops soon.

lmao @ you think he's lying. Why would he lie about that? Look at Dre's track record. Snoop, Eminem, 50 Cent, Game etc. ALL talked about "contraversial" topics in their rhymes. You think Dre wanted to stamp a dude spitting knowledge that the 50 Cent crowd would never understand? Of course not. Don't be dilusional.
