This man surely needs no introduction. Mr. Watts Up Kam is back by popular demand. For now it's only a little appetizer, cause the MC is still working on getting his long awaited album "Self & Kind" released. Fans wouldn't believe it even if they heard Kam himself say it, as it was first announced four years back.

Kam is known for always speaking what's on his mind, and for this little audio preview we got, he didn't change one bit which is all right with me. The song is called "Keep My Name Out Yo Mouth" and it features his younger brother Yung Bruh, and Aftermath's The Game on the last verse.

Los Angeles beatmaker Babyboy is responsible for the production duties of the song. "Keep My Name Out Yo Mouth" will be featured on Kam's new album "Self & Kind", scheduled for release in October. If not October, expect it early next year as the album keeps getting pushed back for political reasons. Stay posted on Dubcnn for more info on the album.

I dunno about that, but I did an interview with KAM last week and here's what he said:

KAM: The album "The Self" was actually supposed to be released a few years ago, but due to circumstances beyond my control (a divorce, the loss of my mother, the birth of my son & a whole host of "haters & blockers", it kept gettin pushed back, & each time that happens, i basically have to record a whole new album becuz the songs get "dated" to me. so as of today, it will either be released late Summer or early 07.

Finally some new music from Kam! It was about damn time...
I'm feeling the song: even though the beat's got a Dirty South bounce to it, the producer also made sure there's a West Coast sound in the song(the little flute in the background). I'm feeling it...

I think Kam must be one of the only West Coast artists who is so concerned about the quality of the music he leaks only every once in a while. Last year he dropped "I Don't Think So" and "The Message" and I still bump those songs frequently. That can not be said about 80% of the other songs I downloaded during that period.
Since Kam is most likely a perfectionist when it comes down to lyrics, I wonder what he'd sound like when he works with Dre in the studio...one can only wonder, right?
