Bender Dies, Proof Mourned
April 18, 2006

There is another twist in the shooting involving the Detroit rapper Proof. Keith Bender, the other man involved in the shooting, died Tuesday morning.

The two men got into a fight at the C.C.C. club last week, and it is alleged that Proof pulled a weapon and shot Bender in the head. Another man, reported to be Bender’s cousin, then shot and killed Proof.

There has been word that later Tuesday, prosecutors will move to shut down the C.C.C. club and other after hours drinking establishments in the city.

Also Tuesday, friends and loved ones will begin saying their goodbyes to Proof.

A special viewing is open to the public Tuesday. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the Fellowship Chapel on West Outer Drive.

Thus far, Proof’s alleged shooter only faces weapons charges.
