It was on some creepy shit. Not scary, but just weird.

yep. Not bad though - just a bit too much wandering around... kinda like the game I guess ;)

If they'd had a few more scenes of the town when 'the darkness' hit it would have been better... everytime that air raid siren went off it had my full attention :)

funny thing is, they filmed this movie in my city (Brantford, Ontario) :D  we have a really old shitty looking downtown area so I guess it was a perfect fit for this movie :D

Hittman is not a real person. He was a computer program generated by Dr. Dre and Mel Man back in the mid 90's. When Dre started treating Mel-Man like shit, Mel infiltrated the computer and put a virus in the hittman program

Went to see the film the other day with my bro and best friend. Needless to say, the first thing I thought when coming out of the screening was: how the hell was that movie rated 15?! Not so much for the actual scares, but for the level of gore and gruesomeness. Without spoiling anything, there are some scenes in this film which are beyond "weird".

In terms of being scary, though, I (disappointingly) didn't find it too bad and jumped around twice throughout the entire flick - and one time was a trademark horror anti-climax. I did wince a bit at some of the more disturbing moments though. If you've played the games, you're probably at both a disadvantage and advantage: 1) at times, such as near the beginning when Rose is searching Silent Hill, I knew exactly what was coming next as a result of playing the games and that took away from the frights a little, sadly. 2) It does help, however, to understand just what the hell's going on if you've played the games and realise that the endings are pretty much always open to interpretation.

All in all, I thought it started strongly and the first hour or so had my full attention. Nearer the end it descends into just plain confusion and, needless to say, i found the OG game scarier. Worth seeing if you're a fan of the series, although I wouldn't recommend it too heartily otherwise.

After we had finished watching I randomly met my friend who lives in town and was in with his girlfriend. Without even saying "hi" he storms over and goes "how SHIT was that film?". :D

The movie was surprisingly good (for the most part). Nothing great, but it has a special significance. That's because most video-game adaptations really suck, but this one was very well produced, it makes the film more special. I enjoyed it, though it DID drag on in some parts and started moving slow. But it picked up and still managed to keep my interest. This movie is also smarter and has a lot more religious influence than people may think...

*SPOILER AHEAD*:
Are they trapped in purgatory? That's another thing about the movie, it is what you make it. It's up to you to take in what is there and make of it what you feel is truth. Hell, some people even believe that they just died in the original car crash. It's a matter of what the viewer thinks...Very smartly done. Movie is worth the watch...PeACe

Contrary to popular belief, "Silent Hill" hardly uses any computer generated imagery. The most notable use of CGI is the fog that drenches the town. Most creatures are live actors covered in latex and makeup.

That was my theory because the woman passed out after she crashed and the dike cop said she fell when she showed up in Silent Hill. It doesn't make sense because the cop got BBQed later on in the movie, which means she died twice. It's probably just all interpretation.

You're right. It's all on how you interpret it. That's how they wanted it to be, it's the type of movie it is. But to me it's more than them just dying. The movie has a lot more religious influence and symobolism than people may think. From the quotes, crosses, and churches we see throughout the movie, right down to the characters names. To me, it's a film about heaven and hell themed around a mother/daughter relationship. Many refrences to the madonna are made, including the names of the main characters. Rose and Sharon... "Rose of Sharon" is a name for the madonna, Cybill, bringer of truth, Christabella, beautiful chirst, etc. Three is also a recurring number in the movie, as a refrence to the trinity. Three ghosts of Alessa, Pyramid Head with the three sides, three dimensions (which refrence heaven, hell, and purgatory). The real world is the world where Christopher Dasilva (the husband) is in. This represents Heaven. It's the world that Rose, Sharon, and Cybill leave behind to go onto their personal journeys...Then there is the gray world. The neutral world between black and white. This is what I interpreted as Purgatory...Then there's Hell, the dark world that unleashes itself when the sirens go off...It's open to many different interpretations, and can mean something different to each individual. There is no wrong answer about "Silent Hill". It's a place where truth is revealed. What I made of the ending is that Rose and Sharon are stuck in the gray world, in Purgatory, in the place of judgement where they'll remain until they're judged. But my interpretation is neither right or wrong...PeACe

I never would of even thought of half of that up. But yeah, it was alot more religious then I was expecting and easily the best video game movie I've seen....Mortal Kombat a close second.

One thing my mate came up with though: if they DID die in the car crash, how come none of their bodies were discovered when Chris De Silva and those cops went into Silent Hill?? Seriously, this film boggles the mind...just like the games.
