Got to take my mind off what's infront of me tonight/

So I place my con-scious, upon the Qur'an and my lost jewel/
I'm proud of myself for major accomplishments outside of school/
Experience is most qualified to teach, and no longer was I a fool/
While trying to cop my new diamond, I'm followin anothers rule/
Not knowing what to do, all the lines seem blurred,
but what's saving me is a passion so high I feel absurd/
This new jewel is the real thing, but the distance between
Is so long and porous, I stare across the lake, wondering if we are seeing/
The same moon, in the same sky, then why can't I jump to the other side/

The war was on, and another ciggerete is lit, we listen to the radio
and wonder what to do about it, sometimes felt like crying/
But my heart remained strong and filled with intense desire/
I knew my direction, but the road was unpaved/
Under a good friends watchful eye, eye was still feelin safe/
But the grief was killing me, cause the walls were too close to me/
My days were stale, but my heart was still beating hard and clearly/
So I finished my duty and shook the spot for another city
