I've just heard Omar Cruz' new "Rocksteady" track, which was premiered on Westside Hype Radio May 13th (get the podcast at Westcoastrydaz.com). Shit's pretty good!

And btw...DJ Skee said that there will be a major Omar Cruz event on June 2nd. Apparently they'll announce who he's signed to
I know for a fact that O. Cruz has been in talks with Dre (he said so on the Westside Hype Radio show about 3 months ago), and with the following Cruz quote, I'm pretty positive it'll be Aftermath. We'll see though...I'm sure it's gonna be big.

Yeah, usually it takes an artist months or in some cases even years to build up credibility & a buzz, and yet...I've first heard about Omar Cruz only about one year ago (and he's only released 2 mixtapes), and apparently he has managed to sign to a big company. That's quite impressive.
I guess it's just a matter of luck too. If your mixtape lands in the right hands (good A&R, famous label exec, etc...), then I guess you've got a bigger chance at getting a record deal.
