Salaries in the NBA can be such an unbelieveable joke. Bum-vets make over 15 mil while Dirk makes like 13 mil and Josh Howard makes less than 1 mil. LOL... it's sad as fuck.

I honestly think Larry Brown sucked as the Knicks coach and that someone like Isaiah would have done a much better job...

lol and you're the one who claims i dont know shiet about basketball? this isnt larry brown's fault. his roster is full of players with huge egos and who were all cancers to their previous teams. not to mention they're all guards.

NO NO DONT DOUBT NIK, HE AS WATCHED EVERY KNICKERBOCKERS GAME ALONG WITH EVERY OTHER TEAMS GAMES.  It has nothing to do with the fact that it is a very poorly put together team with a guys with egos bigger then there contracts even though though most of there team a career losers and there biggest star hasnt won shit in the pros.  A bunch of one dimensional players but there stats look pretty decent tho.  No that cant be the problem its ALLL LARRY BROWN

LMAO...Yes, you don't...Knicks did better last year with less talent...This season they obtained players like Eddy Curry, Jalen Rose, Steve Francise, Jerome James, etc. and had one of the better drafts in the league with Channing Frye, Nate Robinson, David Lee...This team had a much better record last season with less talent...Larry Brown is not a horrible coach, he's just not as great as people make him seem...He obviously couldn't get those guys going and it's not like they're a group of special olympic players...But that's how they were playing...Under HIM...PeACe

LOL...Dude, they had many line-ups that looked good this season, but Brown wasn't getting 'em to work together...

PG Stephon Marbury
SG Jamal Crawford
SF Jalen Rose
PF Channing Frye
C Eddy Curry

WTF? That should easily be a playoff team under the right coach, especially considering there were players like Nate Robinson, Jerome James, David Lee, Maurice Taylor, Quentin Richardson, Qyntel Woods, Steve Francis, etc. coming off the bench...There were so many possibilities for the young talent, Brown just couldn't get them to work together, and that's what it takes, a coach who CAN...PeACe

yeah sure. when he was with the sixers they made it to the finals. when he was with detroit they won a championship (against the lakers who had kobe, shaq, maloney, and payton!!!!!). but now he's "not as great as people make him seem". believe what you want but the roster has a lot to do with that. they should keep larry brown as a coach and work on the roster. nate robinson, eddy curry, jamal crawford, channing frye, etc all look promising. but steve francis, stephon maubury, malik rose, jalen rose, etc need to go

Look, I'm not saying he's a bad coach...But just look at how much better Detroit has become offensively since Flip Saunders took over, and their defense hasn't subsided one bit...They're a more viscious team than they ever were...See, Larry Brown is a good coach, but he can't work wonders...A GREAT coach CAN...PeACe

I agree nik that larry brown is the wrong coach for that team.  But you could find the coach that is pefect for the personal they have and that team is lucky to be a playoff team.  Its a team that looks great on paper but when you put them on the court together is just ugly to watch.

Well...It looks like Golden State might just be his next stop...

Brown's next stop might be Golden State
BY JON HEYMAN
Newsday Staff Writer
May 15, 2006

While the Knicks are taking measures to remove Larry Brown as coach, he probably won't have to head to the unemployment line. Golden State has emerged as a possible landing spot for Brown.

Although speculation has centered on Sacramento, which has an opening for a coach, a person close to Brown told Newsday that Golden State is more likely to be the well-traveled Brown's next employer. The Warriors are owned by Brown's neighbor, Chris Cohan, who resides less than one-tenth of a mile from Brown in East Hampton.

The Knicks seem determined to go ahead with their plan to buy out Brown in any case, but the emergence of a new suitor for Brown could mean the Knicks wouldn't have to swallow the entire $40 million remaining on his contract.

Things appear headed for a repeat of last year's severance scenario, whereby the Pistons bought out about half the $14 million left on Brown's contract. However, Brown and agent Joe Glass are so proficient at this severance game by now, Brown could actually profit after a 23-59 record in his one and only Knicks season.

Top Golden State executive Chris Mullin said April 17 that Mike Montgomery will return as coach after their league-worst 12th straight playoff-less season. But that was before there was any serious indication that Brown's Knicks bosses wanted the Hall of Fame coach out.

Montgomery, the former Stanford coach, had a bumpy adjustment to the pro game.

Knicks continue buyout discussions
By MIKE DOUGHERTY
mdougher@lohud.com
THE JOURNAL NEWS
(Original publication: May 16, 2006)

It's looking more and more like James Dolan will soon be reaching for his wallet.

The future of Knicks coach Larry Brown was discussed at length again yesterday by team officials, who appear to be very much in agreement. Negotiating a buyout is the next likely step.

A quick resolution won't be cheap.

Brown is owed $40 million over the next four seasons. He stated a strong desire to return following a 23-59 season made worse by two health scares. The noted perfectionist has the upper hand right now.

Dolan, however, doesn't seem to mind bailing out Knicks president Isiah Thomas when necessary. He's already spent $15 million to make Don Chaney and Lenny Wilkens leave quietly.

Nobody in the organization is commenting on the situation, which is a pretty good indication that Brown no longer has a support base.

Singling out players such as Stephon Marbury in public angered Dolan, who likes to keep controversy to a minimum. He wants a company man on the sidelines and believes Thomas will make a world of difference in that role.

There isn't anyone else on the short list.

Brown made Thomas uneasy while deploying a league-record 42 different starting lineups. Thomas talked about Brown to a number of confidants around the league, saying the running commentary made it even more difficult to move anyone who didn't fit the mold.

Neither man looks comfortable in the other's presence.

And the players have picked up on the rift. Most were very clear with Thomas during exit interviews that Brown was a big part of the problem.

Quentin Richardson and Jamal Crawford are the only guys in the locker room that made significant changes. Brown and Marbury started going back and forth only a month into the season and never saw eye to eye.

They need more than a mediator now.

"Based on our record, that's normal for anybody to have that speculation," Marbury told The Associated Press yesterday. "I wouldn't mind (a change); it doesn't matter who coaches. I don't care if Larry Brown comes back."

That's open to interpretation.

Brown also had plenty to say about Eddy Curry's shortcomings last season and didn't seem real happy with Steve Francis or Jalen Rose, either.

He underwent another surgical procedure for a bladder ailment on Friday and was unavailable for comment yesterday. Joe Glass, his longtime agent, has not been in contact with the Knicks in the last week.

It sounds incredibly similar to the scenario they played out last summer in Detroit.

Brown stated a number of times in the final month of the season that health issues were not likely to force his retirement. He does have a history of turning franchises around in the second year, but nobody in the front office believed the first year would rank among the worst in Knicks history.

Changes have been promised, and Thomas probably believes it's easier to assume greater control of the situation than deal Marbury, even if he's landing on a hot seat.

LOL. Worst dream job ever.

I knew leaving the Pistons for the shitty Knicks will turn out as a disaster from the very start... I guess Brown just knows how to make mad money. Signing multi-year contracts and only working for like a year or two. Fuck him.
