Rev Run wasn't going into interviews bragging about how superior he is in a very serious way or making threats about not winning a Grammy, or saying the Bible wasn't well written and should include him. With RUN DMC they were jokers having a good time. With Kanye he is a joke living in the spotlight on borrowed time.P.S. The only difference between his production style and Puffy's is Kanye turns the tempo up a bit and loops less popular songs. It's not old school production. There is nothing about his production that makes me think DJ Premier, or Marley Marl. Then again if you mean old school like Rapper's Delight production then I can agree, bit that's the kind of production that's been with Hip Hop forever. Whether it was Run DMC on Tricky, Hammer on Can't Touch This, Vanilla Ice on Ice Ice Baby, Dre on G Thang, Warren G on Regulate, Puffy on I'll be Missing You Dre and Em on My Name Is, or Kanye on Jesus Walks, it's all the same; take a good established piece of music, loop it, add a drum track, and call yourself a genius. There are complex very artistic ways to use samples like a lot did in the 80s, and even Moby did a few years ago, but Kanye's style is not one of those ways.

Rappers then boosted all the time, in very immature ways. In fact, that era reflected more of a Nelly feel than a N.W.A./Public Enemy feel. Kanye is a throw back to the early 80's, with meaningful songs, old school production, and bragging at every chance he gets. Kanye is as Hip-Hop as Run DMC, as the Sugar Hill Gang, Kanye is right, Hip-Hop since 1978, 'cause that's his era. His a student of the game, and it shows.
