Hooks & masters
« on: January 20, 2002, 02:44:24 PM »
Aight, we've seen best producers & best MC's. But who's yall favourite hookmaster? If if wasn't for these guys, hiphop wouldnt be that much on MTV, BET etc.
Make a list whether yall like Sisqo, Usher, Nate, 112, Lil Mo or whatever.
Here's me fav's:
1. Nate Dogg
2. Butch Cassidy (Improving constantly)
3. Kokane
4. Knoc-Turn'al (This cat is versatile)
5. R.Kelly

Nate Dogg
R.Kelly

I was watching rapcity like 2 years ago and Tigger was interviewing Heltah Skeltah and they said they make the hook even before they write lyrics.  where as most people come up with the hook last.

Nate Dogg - just cause lol, hes always been tight and always come thru on tracks
R. Kelly - he makes tight songs and everything, plus he isn't annoying or anything
Knoc-turn'al - he's new and tight, and seems that he'll get bigger with this album hopefully
Snoop - EVERYONE knows who he is, and he usually comes up with tight hooks

i wouldn't put kokane on the list IMO, to me he's just annoying lol

Nate - I can honestly say there's not one song he's featured/made that i've disliked, he's unfadable!

Not forgetting Butch, guess tightness runs in the family  :)

What about Lauryn Hill? She has laid down some gems, not only for the Fugees but shit like Nas' "If I Ruled The World" & Common's "Retrospect For Life".

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

Bump, and yeah:
Here's the final outcome of those that voted:
1. Nate Dogg
2. Butch Cassidy
4. Knoc-Turn'al
5. Snoop Dogg
6. R.Kelly
7. Kokane
8. Devin
9. Lauryn Hill
A strong victory for Nate Dogg, and a clear 2'nd for Butch.
I must say I'm happy with my list, and so can 740D & YoungGotti42K.
